Meet Iván Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iván Garcia.

Iván, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Coming from the bay area, a city called Hayward. I started off as a photographer, and having a passion of telling stories through pictures. I then wanted to take it a step further by being able to tell stories with videos. I remember watching a movie and telling myself, ” I can make a better movie than this.” I decided to move to Los Angeles and pursued to become a film director. Now graduated from film school, I am in a program where they place individuals to work as a production assistant on sets, as well as making short films in my free time with friends.

Has it been a smooth road?
One can’t expect the road to be smooth when pursuing dreams. Unless all the stars are aligned and all goes as planned, then expect some struggles. Some struggles of being in Los Angeles, to name a few, are things such as my car breaking down, my car battery being stolen, my phone being stolen, and not being able to get picked to direct for a school project. These are only a few things that have happened throughout the journey. These are only obstacles one must face in order to truly find out if this is really what you want to do for the rest of your life.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Another Chip Films will be short films posted on youtube in hope for exposure. Since it is just starting out, there is not a lot to be said other than there will be constant content on the channel.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
If one wants to make movies, Los Angeles is the perfect city to start out, but you need a plan first. The worst thing that can happen is moving to Los Angeles with nothing, and having to go back because maybe you do not have enough for rent. Los Angeles is where there are many talented aspiring actors and filmmakers around! Network with those talented people and create something.
