Today we’d like to introduce you to Inty Allen.
Hi Inty, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started working in the medical field in 2010 as a registered nurse in the emergency department. I advanced my career and graduated with my nurse practitioner in 2017 and worked in abdominal organ transplant – hepatology. I did a stint in medical dermatology and my interest in aesthetics peaked. It wasn’t until I looked into obtaining cosmetic injections myself that I found myself overwhelmed by all of these injectors flooding the market. Being in the medical field and researching some of the injectors, it was frightening to see how unregulated the field was, as far as continuing education or certifications required; or better said, not required to inject. This inspired me to get trained and certified so I can provide safe aesthetics for my patients. I trained one-on-one with multiple top injectors in my city, took multiple continuing education courses and really studied the art of aesthetics as well as how to manage complications appropriately.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming a nurse practitioner has not been a smooth road in general. I started off as a registered nurse at the age of 23 bright-eyed and bushy tailed in an inner-city emergency room with very little resources. I found myself wanting to advance my career and attended Northern Arizona University for graduate school and then worked at a very well-known hospital organization in a very difficult field. I love being a nurse practitioner and having autonomy. I delayed starting a family young to really establish my career path and passion. I am now in internal medicine and aesthetics and I have really found my calling. I found myself picking up aesthetics quickly and tailoring customized facial harmonization injections for my patients versus stamping the same overfilled look on everyone that walks through my doors.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I founded The Skin Edit Clinic to provide high-quality skin and beauty solutions for everyone. I provide personalized consults for all of my patients, and believe it or not, I turn people away. If you don’t need it, I won’t inject you. I am most proud of natural aesthetics that are not in your face and altering. I provide natural enhancements to my patients. I want people to know that a good deal is not always a smart choice in regards to your face or anything in life. I am known for injecting people in stages, building a foundation and harmonization for your face. I pride myself injecting lip fillers, I customize lips for everyone. I offer neuromodulators, dermal fillers, peels, acne treatment and lipodissolve. You can always find a “cheaper” injector that will overfill your lips. I want potential patients to ask themselves, “if something were to go wrong, would I trust this person to know how to fix or reverse this?”. I also want people to know that these are medical procedures with real medical potential to have consequences and risks, so please do your research before you let anyone inject you.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck, I believe in networking and working hard. I believe in being kind and honest in life and in work. I have had most connections based on friendships I have developed through, honestly, just being nice.
