Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Levert.
Frank, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story is about seeing colors that others can’t recognize. It is a story about navigating through the prism of creativity and making sense of the chaotic spectrum. Touch, taste, sight, sound. These are the themes that drive my story. The best part? It is a story that is still being written.
Has it been a smooth road?
Success is a relative and subjective idea. The struggles I have dealt with have been only puzzles just begging me to piece them together to reveal the way. The road is never smooth, for this, I remain humble and driven to continue creating and innovating.
Is there some part of you work that is particularly difficult?
The hardest part of it all is finding an easy part. Photographers tend to think that shooting is the easy part. Yes, for most photographers, shooting may be easier than say, finding new clients. But the idea that anything is easy is an idea born from complacency. I have tons of experience, yet rather than to believe any one aspect is easy, I take the idea that I have mastered nothing and work diligently to get better at everything I do.
How do you define success?
Success Is relative and subjective. Some people are not successful unless they are making some money at what they do. Others need to make a certain amount of money to feel successful. My success is a double sided coin. For me, to be a successful photographer my art must continue to inspire different ways of thinking in its consumer. My success as a business entity is closely tied to those requirements I hold of being successful as a photographer.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are increasingly taking me into my past. Forces are drawing me back towards my performing roots. My past endeavors as a music video director, hip hop recording artist and in acting are resurfacing as a result of photography. I am extremely excited about executing my plans to return to these forms of expression and I am approaching it with the knowledge that photography has taught me over the years.
