Meet India Donaldson of The Flavor is Here! Private Dinning & Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Donaldson.

Hi India, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I would cook for my friends or family mostly, some of my friends suggested I started selling my food so I did and it was a huge hit. I really liked how people would be ready for my weekly meals. I stopped cooking for a while I moved to Carolina after my father passed. I came back to California I still wasn’t cooking I started back again selling plates here and there a lot of people would still ask me about my food. Then someone booked me for a catering job and a private dining job, and the rest was history. I strictly stick to just private dining and catering now. I’m also a traveling chef. I received an award from my peers called the C. O. C. O. An award I was awarded outstanding culinary arts. Shout out to those guys over there celebrating people in our community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road had not been smooth, but I’m on this road until the wheels fall off; sometimes, I won’t be booked at all, and the next month I’m booked every weekend of the month entrepreneurship isn’t always guaranteed steady income, but my business is worth it to me. I would say I think it’s kind of easier for me because I really enjoy what I do.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Flavor is Here! Private Dinning & Catering. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My business The Flavor is Here! is my baby, it brings me joy. I get to do something that I love the most feed people. My business is family oriented my mom, sister, and sometimes brother helps me out. I try to bring them along with me at each event that I cater. My food is made with happiness, love, and confidence, and it shows. I am most proud of my ability to create a food experience for my clients. I want my food to seduce the palate and they eye. I am working on a butter and seasoning line it’s been in the works for a while I’m just perfecting it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see my business flourishing, I want cookbooks, a seasoning line, cookware as well as chef ware, I’m am not a chef who wears the typical chef attire it’s not comfortable. I was to design something comfortable. I see a food truck as well as a cafe of some sort. I’ve always pictured my restaurant as more of like house with an open floor plan rather than a restaurant. I love idea of the homely vibe it would exude.
