Today we’d like to introduce you to Iman Europe.
Iman, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a songwriter, singer, lyricist and inspirer. I was born in New York but moved to California when I was six months old. I grew up all over Los Angeles — from Inglewood to the jungles, to Pasadena. I graduated from uc riverside with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing because I knew I’d be a songwriter. My dad is a musician and my mom is a wordsmith. They met at an album release party at Terranova’s in New York City. all that to say– my music career was planned before I was.
Anyway, a lot of music study, written songs and piano lessons later, here I am.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth having comes easy. It’s cliche, but it’s true. My dad always tell me, ‘wake up every morning expecting some level of difficulty.’ it’s helped a lot with smoothing the road but it’s easier said than done.
With that said, I’ve had my fair share of challenges in my career. From getting through college to moving to new cities and getting acclimated, to building the framework of my business from the ground up, to dealing with copyright infringement, to being overlooked, to being artistically and financially frustrated; YES. I’ve faced many challenges. But you know what, though? They’ve all played a part in growing me and reshaping my perspective. Challenges force us to change, and usually for the better. I’m thankful for every struggle thus far, but I’m definitely looking forward to smoother sailing.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m most proud of my first album ‘nami’, which highlighted my greatest skills: writing, music and inspiration. I raised $10,000 through Kickstarter to bring the vision to life and I never forget how thankful I am for a community that supports and believes in me so much. My fanbase are like family members to me. My love for them runs deep.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God. I believe in providence. I believe in diligence. I believe in karma and in grace. I believe in persistence and commitment. Those are the aspects that continuously shift and shape my career.
