Meet ICECOLDBISHOP of ICE COLD RECORDS

Today we’d like to introduce you to ICECOLDBISHOP.

ICECOLDBISHOP, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As an artist, my journey began much long ago. I started to express my passion for music around eight years old at a Tommy The Clown birthday party in South Central. I never actually started to pursue making my own music professionally until I was around 14 years old. I didn’t get access to a studio until I was about 15 years old.

From me starting my recording career at 15 years old to having my first Major Label meeting took me ten years exactly. If I would’ve known at 15, I was in for a 10-year journey before I started to even chip away at making progress I can’t say that I would’ve totally stuck with making music as my Plan A. But reflecting on my journey I’ve learned that the unknown kept the entrepreneur in myself optimistic.

From January 2018 to to April 2019, I went from having no real interest in the music industry and an album I threw away because I felt that the music didn’t properly represent who I was, to interest from almost every Major & Indie label in the game and two full-length projects that I plan to release in 2019 & 2020. In the past eight months, I went from being homeless to working with major corporations.

In this eight-month process, I’ve turned down million dollar deals while being homeless with 79 cents in my account because the money that was offered wasn’t attached to any ownership. My homies are looking at me like I’m an idiot because it’s hard to fathom turning down wealth that could shift the climate for my intermediate family. That shift isn’t always for the best tho.

Has it been a smooth road?
This journey has had its dark days, but it’s bright days as well. As a creative in my position, you’re grateful to even be pursuing your passion as a career, but you also find yourself questioning if making this all come to fruition is even possible. Self-awareness was key during the times I questioned everything. I had to constantly remind myself that I had the potential to make a real shift in the music industry.

To offer a perspective not many artists in my generation have right now. Realizing that might’ve been the hardest hurdle to leap over. I also had to challenge myself to be consistent. I am a procrastinator. It runs in my family (lol). But I’ve recently found my sanctuary in being consist. My sanctuary would be the results. I love seeing the results.

I love seeing things that I manifested in my mind months or even years before come to life. All of the potholes in my road to success has given me the strength to know how to navigate correctly without running lights but getting to my destination on time. Timing is everything.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ICE COLD RECORDS – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Being ICECOLDBISHOP is a business in itself. At this point, I have to approach everything attached to my name as a business because I am a brand. This I plan on officially launching my record label “ICE COLD RECORDS.”

My goal is to make my label a household name. Like a Ruthless, Aftermath, Lench Mob, No Limit, Cash Money, etc. I pull so much game from those that laid the blueprint down for the new generation to follow and succeed with while also adding new pages of information to the blueprint. I’m supported by my manager Jon Tanners (Keep Cool), my lawyer Peter Lewit, and my co-partners Gary Biddy (The Heard Management) & Andre Davis (Interscope Records).

What sets our union apart from others is the morals we possess in this business. Things can get pretty soulless at times, which is to expect when the root of all evil is involved. I wouldn’t have these men around me if I felt like they were morally and spiritually broken beyond repair. Having good men, women, and people around me is key.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I feel like my generation is doing a good job at collaborating and putting egos aside for the better picture. But I still feel like we can do better at it. Yes at times this is a competition, but my desire to win isn’t so destructive the point that I want to see other people lose in the process. We can all win together.

If you would’ve asked me a week ago what do I hate about our city, I would’ve been a bit more passive on shedding light on the negatives. But five days ago my idol was killed. So at this point, I don’t know how I feel about LA. I’m not going to blame all of LA for what happened, but in my 26 years of life, I’ve seen so many situations occur like this that I’m just sick and tired of all of this shit.

Today I saw a picture of 10 different rival gangs coming together in honor of Nipsey Hussle. With all of the trauma I’ve personally seen and been regrettably involved in, I can say that that single image has giving me the hope that no other pic has ever given me before. So for Los Angeles, Ca, I am extremely optimistic.
