Meet Ibrahim Zemheri of Naqqash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibrahim Zemheri.

Ibrahim Zemheri / Naqqash

Hi Ibrahim, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Ibrahim Zemheri, US-based multidisciplinary artist who creates 2D/3D design, motion, and digital experiments. With a background in cinematic arts and animation, I have been collaborating with amazing artists and brands in the world of advertising, media, technology, film and gaming.

In late 2022, I launched my art brand, Naqqash.xyz where I find myself with a newfound freedom to explore my passion outside of work. The name ”Naqqash” stems from the Islamic culture and it translates to an artist or painter. Since I have a deep appreciation for this rich and artistic tradition of the Islamic world, I decided to use this name as a pseudonym for my brand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path is never smooth and I do not think it will ever be. I believe this is the nature of being an artist. So I truly embrace it and let it fuel my artistic fire through the challenges like balancing goals and responsibilities, creative blocks, and work-life balance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love to develop design, motion, illustration and animation. I mostly work with creative companies as an art director, animator and designer in the US. I have had the privilege of crafting for brands such as Disney, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Roblox and many more.

Besides my professional artwork, I love to use my brand ”Naqqash.xyz” as a platform for me to share and express my digital experiments through mediums, including 2D/3D design, digital painting, animation and artificial intelligence with deep inspiration from the art movements such as Surrealism, Expressionism and Minimalism. It has provided me the opportunity to connect with amazing artists and art lovers through various exhibitions so far.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The power of adaptability, embracing change and finding strength through adversity.
