Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Hadley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hunter. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always had a special love for music. Growing up in Oklahoma, I was able to absorb many different artists from many different places.
My parents use to listen to a lot of Eminem, Tech N9ne and the heavy metal band Pantera, so my influences were all over the place from the beginning. My first rap name was “LPJ” or “Little Pimp Juice” and I was seven years old, haha. I started recording music around 16 and met one of my best friends Jordan Cox around that time. We started doing little shows in Oklahoma. I would perform and Jordan would help bring everyone together. I moved to Hollywood six years later at 22 and began really grinding and building important relationships.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth, but that’s a blessing to me. I’ve had personal struggles early on with my household and family, trying to make it when you’re low on money but you know your skill is high level. Working multiple jobs, people hating on you because you’re aiming for your dreams when they gave up. All of these things are fuel for someone like me and my team. Keeping your head up, continuing to work hard and being around positive like-minded individuals has been a major key for me.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I specialize in making high level, honest music. That may sound a bit overconfident but it’s true to me. I spent much of my early time making music specializing in lyricism. Doing my best to be the illest with the pen. Then, I dove into people’s music like John Mayer, Frank Ocean, and Kid Cudi to name a few. These people helped me create my sound and add another layer to my music besides just rapping really well. I’m most proud that my music is honest and that I’m respected by the people I make music with and respect as well. I’m set apart by my diversity. One song may be an R&B type song that will get you in your feels, like “Flow”. Then, another song might make you want to break a wall with the screaming chorus and still have superb lyricism when the raps come in like my song “Fake F***k” Diversity is key to me.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Probably releasing a song with Andy Dick titled “Hi, I’m Hadley”. The idea to get him on it seemed so far fetched, but we used patience and persistence and got it done. Also, just being inspired and hopefully inspiring the people around me makes me really proud and happy too.
