Today we’d like to introduce you to Shekinah Garner.
Shekinah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began about fifteen years ago, when I enrolled in school to study skincare and become a licensed Aesthetician and certified Makeup Artist.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think anything worth having and truly being a master at can come without some degree of difficulty and challenge! I of course have faced my fair share… Although, I will say that I think when one chooses a profession that is considered a trade, you have to possess some level of talent or natural ability in the area of focus. Otherwise it will be nothing but an uphill climb. I come from a family of artists, so makeup artistry comes very natural to me. I’m fortunate in that way.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hollywood Makeup story. Tell us more about the business.
I have a range of specialty … from costume Makeup to red carpet glam, I love it all, and am equally experienced in both.
I am most known for my flawless airbrushed red carpet makeup work, and also for the charcuture Makeup that I create seasonally.
Skincare complements my makeup work perfectly, because every bride I work with, every public figure walking a red carpet, every person on any walk of life who has a face and is breathing -needs skincare!! So I love that I have that really important service to offer. I see clients privately in-home – so their privacy and comfort is top of mind. I have a vast array of high end products. I also have tools such as high frequency, micro current, radio frequency, microdermabrasion, portable steam, oxygen, LED therapy and sonic extraction devices. Therefore, I’m able to efficiently provide spa quality treatments wherever I am.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe in karma, God given talent and hard work!!
