Meet Danielle Glew of Hoffman Murphy Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Glew.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised by two Top Producing Real Estate Brokers in Northern California, I was exposed to real estate and motivational speaking at a very young age. My parents owned two residential brokerages in California, with over 200 agents, and from toddling on the floor through working there in summers when I was in High School – I was surrounded by real estate. Because my parents dragged me to Dale Carnegie, Tony Robbins and Mike Ferry seminars from a young age – I initially resisted any intention of following in their footsteps and being in real estate. Studying communication at USC, I had plans to do something much more sexy – something like advertising or publishing. Except once I graduated, I soon discovered I was programmed one way – and that Real Estate was what I knew well. Excelling for me is important, and my impatience to succeed pushed me in the direction that was most natural. After taking a year off to travel in Australia, I came back to the States with a “what now” attitude, looking for business and entrepreneurial opportunities. So I jumped into what came naturally. Starting a real estate career in 2008, the market and economy had just crashed. It couldn’t have been a better opportunity for me – as I wasn’t jaded by knowing any other market. I started as my mom’s assistant, and we managed REO (Real Estate Owned) accounts in one of the most distressed markets in the country -the Central Valley.

My first year, my mom and I alone closed 108 units. Needless to say, I learned a lot! In that year, I got married, and my husband and I were anxious to get back down to LA. I teamed up with my brother who owns a boutique brokerage on the westside, and continued managing REO accounts all over Los Angeles, which included handling easily over 20 sheriff’s evictions from Beverly Hills to Compton and South Central. It was an unreal experience – and mostly I learned to sustain a high volume of business and create the systems to maintain that. My husband and I knew we wanted our home to be in the South Bay – growing up vacationing in Hermosa Beach it had a special place in my heart – and becoming a South Bay local, I quickly learned that the South Bay community is very close knit. It’s a small town feel just at the border of a big city. People support local business and when it came to Real Estate, I learned they wanted a real local resident and expert. That’s when I met Marie Hoffman and Sue Murphy, the owners of The Hoffman Murphy Team. A top producing team in Keller Williams, in Gary Keller’s personal top 100 mastermind group — within one meeting I knew these woman had something special and most importantly – I saw an opportunity.

Hoffman Murphy Team has a deep-rooted presence in the South Bay community – with both owners born and bred in Manhattan Beach and Palos Verdes, and longtime residents of Redondo, they had built a foundation that only comes from 20+ years in the business. Not wanting to wait 20 years to achieve the same, I joined their team looking to leverage what they had built into something bigger.

At that time, we were a team of 6, and I started as their Listing and Marketing Manager. Soaking up every possible thing I could learn from their years of experience in this market, and their philosophy on world class customer service, being in that role was invaluable. I continued on a path of spending 2 years in each role, preparing for the next. From Listing and Marketing Manager, I moved back into sales as the Lead Buyer Specialist closing just over $20,000,000 my first year. After 2 years working exclusively with buyers, I moved into Listing Specialist, working exclusively with our seller clients. Our production grew over the years, as the market improved and we added more talent to the team, we grew from 60 units and $40,000,000 in 2010, to where we are today, a team of 14 on track to close 125 units and $130,000,000 in 2017.

My role on the team also includes being the Sales Director, managing our business development, training our sales associates and helping to shape the future vision of the team. This is the role that gives me the most satisfaction, and has led me back to my training from when I was younger – public speaking and teaching/training. Hoffman Murphy Real Estate is an active participant in our Keller Williams family, traveling to teach, train and mastermind with other leaders in our field across the country. Our culture is one that supports constantly challenging ourselves and our business to improve, and looking to others that are excelling and learning from them. There are KW teams across the country doing amazing things, and have big plans of what is to come for us!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Building a business and supporting a family as a salesperson is never easy. Waking up each day knowing I have to show up and produce.

There are many people counting on me, both at home and at work. Small children in preschool – a staff that counts on job security that is completely dependent on the success of our company. My husband and I have been working to build our careers, he as a General Contractor and myself as an agent – we have no idea what stability and a job with benefits look like. Being independent contractors takes leverage and doing what it takes. We know what’s it like to have no money and have had to incur so much debt over the years, trusting in what we’re capable of. And having two kids during the process, and stress is at an all-time high.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hoffman Murphy Real Estate Team – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am so proud to be part of such an incredible company who focuses on being a rich part of our community and having clients for life.

Hoffman Murphy Team helps over 100 families with their real estate needs every year, and our goal is that each person feels they were the only one. Our mission is to provide world-class service, create wealth through real estate, and achieve lifelong partnerships. This is true of our clients and our team members. We specialize in residential sales in the Beach Cities, with a special expertise in Redondo Beach. In addition to working to provide our clients a world class customer service experience, one thing we do differently is helping our sellers maximize their net proceeds by preparing the home to outshine the competition. Sometimes that means paint, carpet and staging – sometimes that means managing full scale remodels.

We have a full-time Listing Manager who serves as a project manager to oversee our contractors and vendors to take the entire process off of our sellers’ plate. The end result is a home that sells faster and for more money, and that allows our clients to maximize their financial goals in their home sale. We are known for being active members of our Redondo Beach Community, giving back to the schools (we’ve donated over $75,000 in the last 3 years).
