Meet Hidden Pioneers of Transportation & Technology

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hidden Pioneers. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Hidden Pioneers

Bill Montgomery joined Prime Motivation in 2004 to attend LA High Schools, and they are still going. International Allstars was the name of the individuals that helped run the tour. We traveled to many high schools all over Southern California to learn what we know today. Hidden Pioneers was started in 2017, shortly after the movie Hidden Figures came out. Bill found out his cousin was the great Katherine Johnson and connected with NASA management. They have helped provide subject matter support for the students & teachers. We have a good collaboration today and grateful of everything they do for us and our country.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, we are still fighting to bring back hands-on classes in our schools. They have closed down many classes that help shape our country and lead to more jobs. The Auto shop & Mecannic names have been replaced by the Hidden Pioneers. We call them Transportation & Technology Lab classes and Skilled Technicians. We are sharing this information today and changing the culture & image of our country (USA). Our government and educational system need to communicate much more and go back to the basics to understand what our youth needs to be successful in this high-tech world. We live in today. The Hidden Pioneers have several solutions to these problems and want to share them with the powers to be today. If anyone has connections, please let us know, as we are ready now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Why we do it? Established in 2004, Prime Motivation Expo is a fun, innovative, interactive strategy, which promotes a positive message to disconnected youth to stay in school and focus on future personal and career-oriented goals. Motivating youths to further their education and seek career-tech education as a possible career path may help lead them towards a path of self-sufficiency and reduce the number of out-of-school, out-of-work youths. Prime Motivation is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Prime Motivation has been designed around a methodology to give disconnected youth an overview of the many varied career opportunities that await them. Incorporating live demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and educational seminars from hundreds of companies and organizations, Prime Motivation informs disadvantaged audiences of their potential futures through direct “Experiences.”

When disconnected youth transition into education and employment, the effects are seen not only within the youth’s personal lives but in modern-day and future society as well. Prime Motivation is working diligently to address this problem through offerings of several innovative Career and Educational Expos throughout California. It is with these expos that we intend to ultimately positively impact the growing epidemic of disconnected youth.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Young people who lack basic high school education, postsecondary education or vocational credentials face an ongoing uphill battle in the competition for work. These young people are not only missing out on an education, but they also are missing the vital psychosocial support and protection that is integral in their well-being and survival.

There is no individual recorded reason that can account for why students drop out of school, but research suggests that a combination of factors acting together contributes to the problem. However, it is recorded that High school dropouts are very unlikely to enter upon the modern workforce with the skills required to meet the demands of the nation’s global economy.
