Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Johnston.
The road to Héilo a luxury skin care line at an affordable price… Paige Andree grew up in Burbank, CA and graduated from Cal State Northridge, majoring in Psychology, which she used to help her acting career. She also attended Ruskin School of Acting , Actors Work and studied with some of the best coaches from all over the United States. Paige worked at various jobs, while auditioning during the day, and ended up becoming a working model and actor, winning a variety of awards. When the TV industry changed due to reality shows, Paige found she was booking fewer jobs and had to reinvent herself.
Writing down everything she was good at and what called to her, she listened to her inner voice and ended up walking into a hair shop. Drawn to hair preservation because of her own personal illness that thinned her hair, she researched everything she could medically about the hair follicle, studied with doctors, and helped launch one of the largest hair extension companies in the world. She became THE extension artist to the stars and a well-known educator…all self-made! She saw the need to teach cosmetologists how to properly preserve hair with extensions that are not taught in Cosmetology School. After 15 years of doing hair extensions she and her husband, Eric found out they were pregnant with their first child but were hit with devastating news. The baby’s heart stopped after 11 weeks! That was the beginning of a long and tumultuous journey for Paige and Eric.
After four surgeries, losing four babies and going through doctor after doctor, Paige and Eric had spent a few hundred thousand dollars. In a time where most would give up, Paige kept following her inner voice and always turning inward to listen to God. After morning meditation, Paige was left with a loud thought to Google about fertility, and through a string of keyword searches, Paige found the doctor that would change their lives forever! In discovering the real reason why Paige kept losing pregnancies, she went ALL OUT again, researching and listening to that inner compass. Paige and Eric started filming their entire In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) process. Needing an egg-donor, Paige wanted the world to know about this process and the “club” that women don’t want to be a part of. Nobody wants to admit, or let alone, speak about using an egg donor.
Paige went all out, becoming a huge advocate for fertility and speaking at Fertility Planet with Dr. Peyman Sadaat. The room she spoke to was filled with people long to be parents with eyes filled with tears, looking for an answer. Paige spoke about it wherever she could, urging people to talk about fertility and the struggle of miscarriages and lost pregnancies. After nine years and five lost pregnancies, Paige and Eric finally got their baby boy in 2012! This story landed Paige and Eric on the Ricki Lake show and doing a commercial campaign for Little Remedies called, “Say YES to Less Doubt.”

My husband, Eric was the one who pushed me to launch. He kept saying, “do it.” He really has endured all my talks and tears to triumphs. He has been my main COO and is super detailed in many ways. Helped my research. He has been the one taking over making dinner for our son and putting him to sleep.
My brothers Mathew and Bruce who talked many hours with me and helped me on so many levels. Mathew came up with the name as he was the owner of Helium Magazine and had plans to use the unique spelling of Heilo (halo) and I added the é to make the “a” sound. He helped with designing the site and logo… sometimes I think we are one person finishing each other’s sentences.
My brother Bruce (my stepping stone) calms me in ways no one can. I was so frustrated finding where to get my labels done, and he shoots me the text of a company… I asked,” where did you find them, they are amazing.” He said, “Siri”! I struggled for months with printers!! MONTHS and he asks Siri, and we used them!
My Dad… he saw me running around with my head cut off and he knew what I needed to be done. He too is an entrepreneur and has owned businesses along with doing expense reports and more… nuts and bolts, and it’s always nice to have your Dad speak wisdom and see you. Daddy knows best is for sure.
