Meet Heidi DeBrincat of Studio H Conditioning in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi DeBrincat.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Heidi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been a mover my whole life. My mother was a big influence with healthy eating habits and exercise. I used to use leg weights with her and work out. We even met Jack La Lanne when I was little. I was always moving. I did everything from roller skating to body surfing. Nothing like the wind in your hair!!

My mom put me in ballet to correct my feet and legs because I was knock kneed and pigeon toed. I fell in love with it! Not only was the wind in my hair, but I could FLY! I spent most my life dancing and eventually teaching. Teaching came naturally and I loved watching my students get stronger and more efficient at their craft.

I performed and choreographed with regional companies in Southern California and traveled to Europe where I performed and won 1st place awards in choreography at Dance Grande Prix Italia Festival in 2005 & 2007.

I began my Pilates training and received my first pilates certification in 1999. I found pilates after being injured dancing. Since then I have been passionate about consistently learning through continuing education courses. With over 25 years of teaching experience, 2 pilates certifications, a Gyrotonic license I am still learning more everyday! I’ve had the honor of training athletes, dancers and people from all walks of life, ages and abilities. I even got to work with the Cirque du Soliel performers under the big top!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a single mom of 2 beautiful girls, there have been plenty of obstacles. I started small with 1 Pilates Reformer in my home and taught groups at Csulb Rec center and other private studios. I purchased my home and transformed my garage into a bright and airy studio.

Eventually, I moved into an outside location.

Right after that the economy took a dive in 2010 and things got really lean. Many of my regular clients needed to cut back. Sometimes the lights got shut off. In 2013 I was able to sell my home and invest in my business. Being a self-employed person makes it pretty impossible to get a loan or refinance, even with a good amount of equity. But I was determined to persevere!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Studio H Conditioning – what should we know?
