Meet Heather McHugh and Jennifer Grant n/a of CampusMOM Concierge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather McHugh and Jennifer Grant n/a

Hi Heather McHugh and Jennifer Grant, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We launched CampusMOM Concierge with a two-fold mission: to assist out-of-town parents with students in Los Angeles, and, most importantly, to empower college students to thrive by reducing their everyday stresses.

When Heather’s challenge of helping her freshman son, who was away at college in another city, find an emergency dermatologist sparked a conversation with Jen, they had a lightbulb moment. They realized that countless parents must be experiencing similar frustration as they navigated the complexities of long-distance parenting. Instantly they both thought, “I wish there was someone to just handle this for me!”

Beyond the parental perspective, Jen and Heather noticed a growing mental health crisis among college students. Overburdened by academic pressures, the challenges of independent living, and the relentless pace of life in the big city, students are struggling to balance it all. They created a solution with CampusMOM Concierge that alleviates parental concerns while empowering students to thrive in their academic and personal lives.

By providing a range of services much like a personal assistant, CampusMOM Concierge aims to create a support system tailored to both parent and student. For parents, it offers a peace of mind in knowing they have access to a “Rent-A-Mom” who is an expert in Los Angeles. Parents are also able to ease their own daily stress by handing over time consuming projects like researching where to stay for parents weekend, sending a birthday surprise or finding a local dentist.

For students, CampusMOM frees up their time and energy to focus on academics, personal growth, and their overall well-being. Looking for off-campus housing or a dermatologist can be overwhelming and time consuming for an 18 year old. The expert moms at CampusMOM Concierge already have those answers and are eager to help. We like to think of ourselves as a virtual Mom extension in Los Angeles. We think these students should be making lasting memories with friends rather than stressing out.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge of being a College Concierge is explaining the need for our services. We are mix of a hotel concierge mixed with a personal assistant with the bonus caring touch that only a Mom can offer. When you staying in a new city, you need recommendations from a local. Rather than spend hours researching where to go, most of us ask the hotel concierge for help because they are experts in their city. That’s exactly what we are – expert Moms in Los Angeles.

And just like a personal assistant, our Rent-A-Moms can help with anything and everything. From sending a surprise gift for sorority week to finding the perfect beach side restaurant for a family visiting for Parent’s Weekend, we have access to all the best lists and can get it done quickly to save parents time and money.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about CampusMOM Concierge?
At CampusMOM Concierge, our network of Los Angeles moms is vetted, trusted and, like any good Mom, ready with answers to any problem. Our moms will connect parents and students with the best resources in Los Angeles. Need recommendations for a fabulous hotel near campus? Help packing a dorm? A surprise package to lift their mood during finals week? Let us handle it.

As moms, we know unexpected situations arise. With our 24/7 availability, we’re able to respond quickly to any emergencies or concerns. Having the peace of mind knowing that you have a local Mom on call to help is priceless to parents.

We also are Moms who just “get it”. We had a student who caught Dorm Flu her first few weeks and her mom called us to help. We rushed over a care package and found a doctor to check her out. Another parent hired us to help their student renew their passport. We helped fill out the paperwork, brought a notary to their dorm and found a local service to expedite it.

Los Angeles is a big city and can be overwhelming for out-of-town parents to find resources. CampusMOM strives to ease parents’ stress while saving them time. We can easily do things locally that a mom on the East Coast or Mid West can’t.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Unlike hotel concierges who work with local restaurants or services to earn a commission, we only work with the best in Los Angeles. Our exclusive lists are carefully curated and vetted by our moms. If you have a business you think would be a good fit to work with us, please reach out. We love discovering new businesses in LA that our clients can utilize. We also just launched a student ambassador program on campuses this Fall.
