Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Lybarger.
Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Founders Lance and Tom started a photo booth company called Pink Shutter in 2011. After much learning, experience and growth, they created Speedy Photo Booth in 2014 as an open concept alternative for the budget conscious. The rentals are simple, straight-forward and affordable, but they carry over the high quality established in Pink Shutter’s services. Me, personally, I joined the team in 2013 as a Graphic Designer. I now wear many more hats, working in sales, events, marketing, social media, graphics, web design and wherever else I can lend a hand. I tell people I work “behind the scenes” and have much respect for our attendants that travel with and run the booths every weekend. We are still a smaller company, as far as our key group of players, but our clientele has grown and we service many types of events from weddings to mitzvahs to fundraisers to holiday parties to pet shows to breast cancer walks and everything in between. Working with Pink Shutter and Speedy Photo Booth has given me more skills than I thought possible!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We experienced what is called “a good problem to have.” Our clientele and schedule of events grew quickly while I was still in, what I considered, my learning curve. Everyone on my team has stepped up to service an increasing number and type of events. Luckily, I prefer being busy; busy for me means productivity.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Speedy Photo Booth – what should we know?
We are firstly a photo booth company, but we offer other, related services as well. Our photo booth comes in open concept, which means the booth kiosk is running without a traditional enclosure. It has been fun seeing creativity in venue choices and staged backdrops that serve as the backgrounds to our photos. Speedy also offers Animated GIFs, 3-frame animations created from the snapshots taken by our kiosk, Flip Books, 28-page books made from a recording and hand assembled on-site, and the Insta Shutter printer, which prints any photo tagged with a unique event hashtag.
Our company specializes in customization. We try to make every event as unique and creative as possible, whether that means creating brand exposure, sharing a wedding hashtag, or printing personalized party favors. With this, we are proud of the quality of our set up, photos and prints, the basis of our company’s services.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest motivator throughout my years with the photo booth company has been Ngoc from Skybox Event Productions. I’ve been working in the wedding industry a long time and Ngoc actually referred me to Pink Shutter for a single project. That project has turned into 4 years and counting, helping the company grow and try new things. Ngoc has always been good at connecting people and making friends that help the industry as a whole.
