Meet Heather Euting of Feather Fades in Thousand Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Euting.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in the hair industry with women hair with my Cosmetology license. Working in a salon, I always gravitated towards men’s cuts. Any male walk in that would come in and nobody else would want, I would I jump at it. The technicality, precision, and detail that went into a men’s cut and fade intrigued me and frustrated me to the point that thats all I wanted to do, perfect it and get better at my craft in all areas not only color. I then went back to barbering school and the time I was working in restaurants and men’s salon’s training in all ways I could while being in school. I was one of the only females there for barbering which wasn’t easy because in this industry women weren’t necessarily welcome. I used that as motivation to prove those people wrong and prove to myself and others that anything is possible if you work hard and have the drive and passion for something

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road but I would have it any other way. I’ve worked in multiple shops, taken classes, attend events and educational shows constantly, I’ve messed up, gotten better. I’ve had to earn my worth and own it. There are so many learning curves and long extra hours put in to my craft, and there’s always something more you can learn!

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a barber, the skills I’ve acquired in my career and among others in my life have gotten me to where I am today. I specialize in men’s grooming, fades, straight razor shaves and beard sculpting. In the beginning fades would frustrate me trying to get everything perfect and smooth the detail I put into every cut inspired the name Feather Fades not only is it a play on words but its who I became and what I’m most passionate about. I think what separates me from others is my attention to detail, patience, customer service and people skills. I genuinely love what I do, the friends and people I have gratefully in my chair. I strive to be the best I can and make people feel and look their best and ensure my clients are happy with their experience

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I never did sports like the other kids. I always found myself doing more artistic things and found fun in that. I danced and loved music, always was creating new projects and things to do. I was a social butterfly very outgoing and always needed to be out conversing with people any social gathering I would always try and be present,
