Meet Heather Askinosie, Timmi Jandro of Energy Muse in Torrance, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Askinosie, Timmi Jandro.

Heather, Timmi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Heather Askinosie: 30 years ago, when I was selling luxury real estate in Southern California, a client asked me to find him a home with good Feng Shui. At that point in my life, I had no idea what Feng Shui or the world of energy—and that’s what truly opened the door for me. From there, I stumbled upon a crystal store and I was hooked. I began to live a double life, selling real-estate by day and spending the nights with the crystals in this store. The more time I spent with them, the more I knew that I could no longer live this double life—I had to take a leap of faith. I used the money I’d saved from selling homes, and traveled the world to study with indigenous healers, shamans and medicine people who all bestowed their wisdom to me by word of mouth. When I returned, I wanted to test the knowledge and wisdom I’d gained to see how I could share this with more people—I’ve always been a skeptic by nature, so I had to see the results for myself. I made 10 necklaces combining my knowledge of Feng Shui and crystals. It was called Prosperity, and it incorporated Jade beads and 3 Chinese coins tied with red string. I gave it to 10 of my friends—Timmi was one of them, as I knew she would be honest with me—asking them to wear it for 10 days, and let me know what happened. Every single one of them came back with some sort of shift in prosperity. After that, everyone wanted to get their hands on one of these necklaces, but I had one problem—I didn’t know how to produce product. That’s where Timmi entered the picture.

Timmi Jandro: My background was in the garment industry, and I’d had the experience of learning all facets of a business—from sales to production to shipping to customer service. I got a small production team together, and we literally started selling product out of the trunks of our cars. Soon word spread to the Hollywood A-listers about this prosperity-bringing necklace. We were ushered into Hollywood parties to sell our “energy beads.” It’s like we were doing energy deals with the most influential and successful people, giving them a competitive edge. From there, we began to create more products for other intentions to grow our offerings. And that’s how we got our start!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Heather: There are always challenges when starting a business. In fact, we could’ve wrote a book on what NOT to do because we have done all of those things, haha. There have been many times the crystals saved our butts and guided us.

Timmi: We didn’t start with a business plan. It folded organically. Because we are in the energy industry, the rules are different and logic doesn’t always apply!

Heather: The crystal industry is an intuitive business and linearity didn’t work for us. When we were too linear our business would get stuck and when we became more energetically fluid, more would open up for us. Whenever we were having money issues, instead of hitting the pavement and trying to gain for clients, we would instead hire a shaman to bless our business, buy bamboo for Feng Shui and crystals for abundance. Our accountant thought we were looney to spend money on these things, but these were the factors that would always shift our business!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Energy Muse story. Tell us more about the business.
Energy Muse is a crystal healing and jewelry company. Our soul mission is to de-mystify the crystal realm by teaching people practical ways to use crystals in their daily lives. As trailblazers in the wellness world, we are creating a movement to help everyone reconnect with the Earth to get clear on their goals and tap into their own personal magnificence. Through the use of crystal rituals, our intent is to educate people on how they can transform life’s challenges into opportunities for growth when equipped with the right crystals and mindset.

Heather: I”m a starter and Timmi is a finisher and thats why our partnership works. I’m always into the “new” – researching what’s next. I’m strong at the initial burst and Timmi, as a finisher, likes to cross things off the list.

Timmi: We had to divide and conquer different parts of the business and our talents lie in different, which creates this beautiful balance.I handle the production and sales while Heather handles the crystal research, the big picture marketing strategies and trendsetting in the energy world so we are always the leaders in this realm.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Heather: The less attached we are to the outcome the luckier we get. It turns from luck to trust of what is supposed to be. Sometimes what we think is unlucky in the beginning can end up being lucky in the end!

Timmi: We’ve been dumb lucky in many cases and we have been guided through many doors. The energy of luck is always around us. We just have to trust and know energetically that we are always on the right path and luck will come when we are serving our purpose.

Heather: One of our favorite “luck” stories is our Tony Robbins one. We have been working with the Tony Robbins Foundation for nearly 15 years and how it came about was through a simple gesture. Someone near and dear to Tony bought him our Protection Necklace as a gift and he connected with it! That opened up the door to working with his foundation and it has been an amazing relationship ever since.
