Meet Hayes Bradley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayes Bradley.

Hayes Bradley

Hi Hayes, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started writing and making music in high school and went to music school in Chicago. I started touring and playing around the world all throughout my twenties, and now have recently started composing for film and television. My next full-length album will be coming April 2024.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think pursuing any big goal is an easy road. I didn’t grow up with any musical or entertainment-based people within my friends and family circle. I always thought composing was a pipe dream or a cool kids’ club that was impossible to get into. So now, to find myself working on any projects, let alone the ones I have been able to write music for, is a total privilege and dream.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mostly write and compose music for film and shorts. I also tour as a live act and DJ for my solo music. Creating soundscapes for pictures is really my favorite thing to do; I am working on my second feature right now, titled An Autumn Summer, directed by Jared Isaac. Really beautiful piece of work I am excited to have come out this summer. I think having a few sides of music is important, not just having the live and solo work but combining it with a faceless identity behind a film or picture, to me, is very important. Just to not be only one thing.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I grew up here, so for me, it is a bit of an oasis. My family is here, and it serves as a serious foundation for my mental and spiritual. Although it’s not that great of a community, haha. I have my community, but it’s not very easy to become acclimated as an outsider. Which may be a good and bad thing. I hate the increasing traffic every year, but who cares? That’s probably what everyone says, haha.
