Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry Holmes.
Hi Harry, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my acting journey at 13 when a teacher asked me if I was interested in joining our high school Drama Club.
At this time of my life, I think the universe was trying to guide me in a career-oriented direction because I was very much in my rebellion stage. In high school, I was a punk skater kid only concerned with activities AFTER school; like most kids, right?
There was an opportunity through our Drama Club to attend a one-week competition in Japan where all DOD (Department of Defense) schools would compete. I probably should mention that I grew up as an ARMY brat moving every four years or so. Traveling was a major reason for joining the entertainment industry.
All I needed to hear was, Japan. Where do I sign up? The drama teacher had me choose from a couple different monologues that were laid out on a desk. Mind you, I had ‘acted’ in school plays but that didn’t really count. I was obsessed with Jean-Claude van Damme, but that was the extent of knowing what ‘acting’ was. I was thinking maybe a pro skater or NBA player; definitely wasn’t happening. I got tired of breaking bones as a skater and was cut from the JV basketball tryouts.
My teacher told me that I would be performing the monologue the following week. It was about a kid talking about his adventures on his cousin’s dirt bike and how they almost died but it was wicked awesome. I was loud, crazy and enthusiastic. ‘Competition is in 2 months’. I’m in?? I’m in!
We went to Japan and met the most amazing kids. Fell head over heels in love with the country. I was hooked. ‘We do this every year?’ I thought to myself. I was also shocked because I had won a silver medal presenting that same monologue I had auditioned with. They called my name and my first thought was ‘that…name…sounds…fa…’. The rest is history.
Let’s be real. Beginners luck, but, admittedly, I had been bit by the acting bug.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My naive, 25 years old self, thought it would be smooth sailing. ‘I’m gonna be on a hit movie/tv show my first month!’ Sometimes being naive is good though. Gets you to do crazy things. I was in a pilot my first year… that bombed.
It’s been nerve-wrecking, challenging, and an emotional rollercoaster. Isn’t that the charm of life though?
I remember I had to read a quote about ‘not being able to live this day again’ because I couldn’t get out of bed due to my anxiety that I had actually booked a gig for a band I grew up with and now I had to perform. What if I’m terrible? What if they don’t like me? What if they realized I’m on a con. Thank god we use digital instead of film. ‘What’s the line?’
How am I going to pay rent? I hate this job. I’m picking up a dog’s poop for gas and grocery money.
Isn’t there beauty within struggle? Or something like that?
After my 1,000th audition, I had finally booked my first lead in an episode for the ID Channel and my parents got to watch the debut with me. That was pretty incredible. Then you laugh at the dog poop and you’re just glad that you submitted for that audition. Another chance, even if you didn’t want to go because ‘I probably won’t book it anyway. Oh my god, I got a callback?!’
Plants needs dirt to grow. The fruit is the last to bloom.
We’ve been impressed with Wolf Spirit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2020, when COVID hit, if you weren’t a ‘celebrity’, you weren’t getting work, at least I wasn’t.
I had to think of something else. What besides entertainment could I do?
People were dying, the news was filled with negativity and fear. Growing up, I was always positive. No matter what, I would try and find the positive. Always happy-go-lucky.
I wanted to share that with the world somehow. I had gone through a spiritual awakening in 2019 due to some hard-core depression. I had never really experienced depression like that before. It was time to give back instead of telling people to ‘look at me’.
I created Wolf Spirit to link positivity with spirituality. I love wolves and the moon. Always have. I’m the guy that looks up at the stars at night trying to figure out what this life is all about. All the questions. We had a lot of time to ourselves during COVID, especially if you lived by yourself *raises hand*.
Wolf Spirit symbolizes how to tap into both you’re masculine and feminine energies. Wolf (masculine), spirit (feminine) and the power that comes from that. To understand your light, you must accept your darkness as well. I wanted to tap into that and represent it. As above, so below. As within, so without. The universe comes together using a law of polarity.
I now have an online e-commerce store where customers can browse. From this exploration, I started making #foodforthot videos sharing my own revelations/discoveries of life. I’m a very deep thinker. I wanted to come out of my shell and see who resonated. I love making them and reading people’s feedback. It’s a lot about perspective, coaching and mental health and how I have dissected myself to hopefully help others with their darkness or to just see life from a different perspective. Life is about mindset.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have two perspectives on this.
One, I’m all in on wisdom from people in similar fields, mindsets, and higher up.
Two, just do you.
Both have worked for me. I believe the more trial and error you go through, the more you can sift through what people say and choose what works best for you.
No one can see your vision except you. You’re going to make mistakes. And you’re going to learn from said mistakes. Taking away the fear of ‘failure’ makes a person unstoppable.
Also: Stop caring what people think about what you’re doing. If you believe in it, that’s all you need.
