Meet Harrison Sands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harrison Sands.

Harrison, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I never thought I would be in the music industry, yet here I am. I always had a passion for music growing up, but moved away from it in high school, only to find my way back in college. After changing my major from Bioengineering to Music Production to Business Marketing, I found my passion was creating. I love collaborating with friends and have made many new friends making music. After graduating from college, I started working on music with my good friend Abhi the Nomad. I started helping him with his music while investing time in my own. A few years later, I’ve maintained my involvement with Abhi, creating and going on tours, while consistently growing my own base in hopes of the same success. I’m currently working on multiple projects and have worked with artists from all over the country.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a challenging road indeed. Just the idea of abandoning the somewhat safe path of graduating college and starting the 9-5 job for the life of an artist is a challenge. Another challenge is learning to navigate the music industry itself. I’ve had so many great experiences, but there have definitely been a few I’ve taken hard lessons from. But I’ve had nothing but support from my friends and family along the way and it’s finally paying off it seems.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a musician/recording artist and specialize in an R&B/Pop sound. I’m probably most proud of the perseverance I’ve had to get to the level of success today while knowing there is still so much room to grow! I think my ability to create music across genres and work with artists at every level of success is what sets me apart from others. I’ve written with people signed to major labels, and created tracks with artists working out of their bedrooms!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is very simple. Can I live a comfortable life doing what I love? Then I’ve reached the level of success that I started out after. I think the “fame and fortune” that entices many into making music is something I don’t necessarily need. If no one ever recognized me on the street, but I had a nice house and was traveling the world, I would be completely fine with that!
