Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Natali.
Hannah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At the time I was born, my parents lived an off-grid lifestyle on the big island of Hawaii.
My mom was a painter and my father a musician and teacher. Growing up surrounded by lush plants, animals and raw nature, I fell in love with wilderness. I remember running barefoot into our grove of guava trees with my sister, the wet earth under my toes, feeling connected to nature. I had a child like obsession with the gardens of delights around me, they supplied me with an endless stream of inspiration and a life-long connection to Source.
When we moved to Eugene, Oregon, my parents enrolled me in an immersive art elementary school. We went from living a secluded life in a lush rainforest to a small second-story apartment. I longed to return to living on the land and felt hopelessly confined. Looking back, it is this confinement that unlocked an imaginational dreamscape and allowed the visions to begin flowing out of me.
After moving to California, I continued studies in fine arts and design, learning traditional techniques of oil painting, glazing, and figure drawing. Working with a nude figure bi-weekly quickly became my favorite study, and my fascination with life turned to the human form. An interest in mysticism, spirituality, and the divine feminine archetype led me to years of reading, research, and study – becoming the focus of my work.
Today, I run a studio and gallery, Tree of Life, in the magical mountain town of Topanga where I host art exhibits, live performances, and open studio tours. If you’re interested in receiving an invitation to one of my exhibits, leave your email on my website or send me a direct message.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Creating in the visual medium has been my calling for as long as I can remember. The biggest challenge has been rising to the highest level of creativity possible at every moment and getting over self-doubt.
Entering and navigating the art world can be challenging, and it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s one of the hardest jobs there is. I’ve had to go against the societal concept of the starving artist and surrender to a deep trust, creating a new template for the artist that is thriving.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m known for installing artistic spaces and immersive experiences, creating a vibe by hanging my art alongside earth elements, and sacred relics. My paintings become living art altars, adorned with embellished frames, altars, candles, and ancient wisdom honoring the one mother goddess.
I display my artwork and custom ambiance design at private events, international art festivals, and art fairs like Art Basel. I am a painter, traditionally trained in techniques of oil painting, glazing, and figure drawing, I also incorporate magical elements like gold leaf, reclaimed materials and natural artifacts into my work.
As a fine artist, my work is predominantly about the divine feminine archetype, and opening my channel to allow for flow. On a practical level, it’s about mindfully applying the processes of imagination, inspiration, and creativity to my art and business.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My work is central to my spirituality, and thus, I have always felt that luck is on my side. I learned that “making it” is never what it looks like from the outside perspective of success, but rather a series of small breaks, synchronicities and loads of dedicated work.
