Meet Haik Zadoyan of Kaffe Rouge in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haik Zadoyan.

Haik, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
While I was in college, I kept myself busy on the side by doing marketing, branding, web development and design for a few local and online brands. To me, it wasn’t just a source of income, but an interesting and fun process. I started an online music website called Raw Goodage, which covered music events, conducted interviews, and suggested new music to thousands of viewers. I had just turned 21 and was constantly at different venues writing reviews, interviewing artists, and/or taking photos with our crew.

After graduating, I knew that I wanted to move back to Los Angeles, where many of my friends and family were. I ended up becoming a managing partner of a popular medical spa with locations in the Valley, where I was able to utilize these skills to help improve and grow the business several fold. A few years later, we sold the medical spa, and I was eager to get involved with different types of industries.

Hospitality was always something that was important to me, not only because my friends and I enjoyed all the awesome bars and restaurants, but because many of my peers were restaurateurs or had been at one point. I partnered up with my cousins Armen and Kevin Zadoyan, who founded Kaffe Rouge in 2009. They had previous restaurant experience (Te’kila Restaurants, Bar Tribute) and we knew that our combined skillsets would be a great recipe for success.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t believe there is such thing as a business that can operate without some sort of hiccup along the way. We’ve had some very early mornings, and some very late nights, but at the end of the day you do whatever it takes to make sure things are the best they can be. Our industry is very competitive, so it is important to stay relevant through the years.

Kaffe Rouge – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kaffe Rouge is a hookah lounge and restaurant located on Ventura Blvd in Studio City. Founded in 2009, it set out to redefine hookah hospitality. We not only wanted the best tasting and longest lasting hookahs, but to also create a comfortable and eye catching atmosphere for our guests to relax in.

It features a unique layout with several different sections to choose from. Guests can enjoy traditional restaurant seating with tables and chairs, or a more relaxed setting with couches and coffee tables, which is one of the things our customers enjoy the most.

Aside from our well-packed hookahs and ambiance, guests also enjoy our food, cocktails, and staff. We are noted for our customer service, and our friendly team reflects that.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is when you reach a personal goal that you’ve defined, whatever it may be. It doesn’t have to be monetary. It can be anything, but if you’ve achieved that one thing that you feel is important, then you’re successful. It is completely subjective.
