Meet Gustavo Munguia of Sitio Link in San Fernando Valley – Reseda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gustavo Munguia.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a teenager, I tried to help keep my father’s small furniture shop alive with digital marketing. The recession of 2009 hit my father’s business hard and sadly, he eventually had to close it forever. From then on, my father encouraged me to help other business owners because he saw that I had a skill in marketing and web design. I then offered consulting services to local business owners and I gained a ton of experience in various types of industries. As an effort to gain even more experience and stability, I obtained a job as a marketing coordinator for a personal injury law firm.

Over the years, I learned about the intricacies of digital marketing through my job and education. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the California State University of Northridge (CSUN) and a master’s degree in Mass Communication Management from the University of Southern California (USC).

Today, the devastating effects COVID-19 has inspired me to establish my own digital marketing and web design firm specifically to help local business owners. Small business owners are essential to our economy and communities, thus I want to help teach, guide, and manage the marketing functions of businesses so they can thrive. Additionally, I don’t see any other agency or firm that offers affordable services for local businesses. Yet alone, I don’t see any firms that specifically offer services to minority businesses. As a Latino, I can communicate with Latino business owners in Spanish.

I have a vast amount of optimism and inspiration to make a difference in my community and across the nation.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a young marketer, I often faced the stereotype of an inexperienced young millennial. Obtaining client’s as a teenager was extremely hard but the clients learned that I was highly experienced and knowledgeable in digital marketing. In an effort to gain more knowledge, I became a full-time student at CSUN to receive my bachelor’s degree in Sociology as I worked full-time as well. Sociology was highly valuable to me because it helped me understand the social dynamics of culture, trends, and norms. To further challenge myself, I entered USC’s online graduate school in mass communications in an effort to become a well-rounded marketer. The birth of my son was perfect timing as I began my graduate studies, his arrival fueled my determination and perseverance… Graduate school was extremely difficult but thankfully I managed to graduate in May of 2020. As a master’s degree graduate, I now face the challenges of finding success in this COVID-19 world.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Sitio Link is a web design and digital marketing agency that offers affordable services for local business owners. I help business owners design visually stunning custom websites that suit their business. Unlike webmasters, I try to empower my clients with complete control as I build their sites on user-friendly website builders such as Wix or Squarespace. Instead of paying large sums of money to webmasters, clients can cut costs by managing their own subscriptions at a lower rate. Additionally, my services can be paid for a month-to-month basis to maintain a low payment.

In regard to digital marketing, I offer social media and pay-per-click management. As compared to boutique agencies, I help businesses owners craft strategies for their business with a budget that works for them. My social media management service helps alleviate the time-consuming effort to produce effective content to build an online presence. Through dense research, I produced quality online ads that can produce successful conversion results for my clients.

Overall, I can provide intimate and personal service for each of my clients. Whether through an online video session, by phone, or in person, I make the effort to fully commit myself to my client’s business. Unlike many agencies, I am able to provide this service to Spanish-speaking owners.

What were you like growing up?
I was a highly naive child, I could not stop trying to learn something new. I always thought of myself as a person that liked to view the world from the outside. I was relatively shy for the most part of my life, but eventually, I learned to break free. As the older brother of two younger brothers, I naturally learned about the leadership qualities of a leader. These types of qualities help me to become the ambitious person I am today.

One of my favorite hobbies is photography and music. When I go out with my family, I take my camera every time to make sure I capture those intimate moments. I also like to take landscape, portraits, and street photography shots for my own personal portfolio.

When I am free, I like to play with my electric guitar to spark a creative tune in my head. Music gives me life and energy, at any second, I can listen to music to keep me going. Whether I am working, driving, or studying, I can assure you music will be playing in the background. I can listen to various types of genres, but my all-time favorites are hip=hop, rap, R&B, and alternative rock.
