Today we’d like to introduce you to Gueston Smith.
Hi Gueston, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Firstly, I want to say that I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story. Thank you.
I’ve always been an explorer physically, mentally, and creatively. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, I grew up in a loving, encouraging family with a vivid imagination, a resilient body, and a bold spirit. I learned to ride horses, drive ATVs, dirt bikes, go-karts, trucks, and even bulldozers before most kids could ride a bike. By four, I was doing backflips & riding bikes without training wheels. By seven, I was winning push-up and sit-up contests. Most of my childhood was spent playing basketball, climbing trees and rooftops, or running full-speed through games of hide-and-seek. I was constantly in motion, sharpening my instincts, building my confidence, and learning how to move through the world with creativity and courage. I was like a Black Tom Sawyer with more imagination, more access, and more movement. I built things, explored everything, and turned everyday life into an adventure. That energy eventually found purpose.
That freedom of movement shaped how I saw the world and space.
My professional journey began when I was 12 years old with a promise to my younger sister, Talyia, to one day design her an accessible home she could truly thrive in. That seed grew into a lifelong mission: to create spaces that don’t just shelter people, but empower them.
I studied architecture at USC, but even then, I was drawn to movement: physical, mental, cultural, and economic. I wasn’t just designing structures. I was asking, ‘What if space could move with people? What if it could unlock freedom?’
After working in defense tech and leading modular projects across the U.S. with Kubed Living, I began seeing a pattern: too many people were being locked out of ownership, blocked by zoning, rent, and red tape. That realization pushed me to evolve Guesscreative from a side hustle for brand identity into a full-scale design lab. Since then, I’ve won & accepted two international A’Design Awards for a mobile classroom and a mobile wellness trailer in Milan.
Today, Guesscreative builds movable assets, modular systems, mobile business spaces, and residential designs, all tailored for the next generation of entrepreneurs, educators, creatives, and future owners.
We’ve delivered over $5 million in modular design, including custom shipping container homes, luxury business trailers, mobile classrooms, and experiential builds. But under it all is one core vision: to turn architecture into a tool for self-determination.
I call myself a Spatial Entrepreneur, someone who sees space not as a product, but as a platform. From Los Angeles to Texas to Florida, Côte d’Ivoire to South Africa, we’re building an ecosystem of movable tools, modular expertise, licensing frameworks, and legacy-minded design.
My goal is to empower visionaries with scalable, customizable movable assets that allow them to bring their space to the community.
I don’t just design beautiful structures. I design freedom by reimagining how space can be used.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. But every bump shaped the vision.
There were moments where the vision felt too big for the room I was in or the budget I had. I’ve navigated delayed payments, working for free, fabricator and structural engineer nightmares, and the mental weight of carrying a mission that not everyone understands yet. I’ve lost deals, had to pivot mid-build, and most times, I’ve been the only one funding the dream.
One of the biggest challenges has been educating the market. I’m working to show people that mobile architecture isn’t a downgrade. It can be done tastefully with strategy, luxury, and thoughtful design. That mindset shift takes time.
Another obstacle has been access to capital, networks, and manufacturing. As a young Black entrepreneur, I’m creating something the world doesn’t know it needs yet. I’m carving my own niche, which means I wear a lot of hats: designer, strategist, salesman, project manager, accountant, and more. But that’s the entrepreneurial journey.
And none of it will break me. It will only continue to refine me.
The struggle taught me how to build systems, not just structures. It taught me how to think long-term. And it taught me that vision backed by execution is louder than any gatekeeper.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Guesscreative?
Guesscreative is a design lab specializing in modular innovation, mobile architecture, and spatial entrepreneurship.
We design and build movable assets like luxury retail trailers, mobile salons, educational units, shipping container homes, and prefab ADUs that help entrepreneurs and brands bring their vision directly to the community.
Our mission is to turn space into strategy. To show that real estate isn’t just about square footage. It’s about freedom, flow, and ownership.
We’re known for creating high-impact, beautifully crafted spaces that move, literally and culturally. Whether it’s a mobile showroom for a fashion brand, a modular classroom for hands-on learning, or a prefabricated studio that grows with your business, our work sits at the intersection of design, mobility, and empowerment.
What sets us apart? We don’t just design structures. We design systems. We blend architectural precision with business logic and brand storytelling. We offer ROI calculators, permit strategies, leasing models, and productized trailer templates because we believe in designing for scalability, not just aesthetics.
I’m most proud of how our brand reflects something deeper: Liberation by design. Everything we build, physically or conceptually, is meant to restore agency to the visionary. To remove gatekeepers. To decentralize access to space and ownership. To bring connection to the community.
So whether you’re a startup, a city, or a cultural leader, if you’ve got a mission, we’ll design the space that helps it move.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Los Angeles is the energy of possibility. It’s one of the few places in the world where you can find anything you’re looking for. The landscape is inspiring. You can hit the beach in the morning and snowboard by afternoon. Rooftop drinks, open-air malls, and diverse cultural neighborhoods make it a vibrant place to explore the human experience in all its forms.
The Diaspora here is powerful. You can taste food from every continent in one city. And everyone’s hustling in their own way. That energy, the collective ambition, is contagious. It makes you want to level up just by being here.
What I like least? I was born and raised in Texas, so I value personal space and connection to nature. In LA, unless you’re spending millions, that kind of breathing room is rare. I miss seeing trees, having a yard, or walking through forests. I also struggle with how visibly unequal the city can feel. The wealth gap shows up block to block. And LA is too incredible of a city to have so few clean, safe public spaces for people to gather and thrive.
Traffic? That’s a whole issue on its own. But more than just traffic, LA needs centralized, walkable zones where people can connect, like the Gaslamp in San Diego. With all this talent, culture, and creativity, there’s no reason LA shouldn’t have more areas designed for joy, community, and presence.
