Meet Guerby Despage of Pretty Fleur in Anaheim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guerby Despage.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Guerby. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I could remember, I loved creating and always thinking outside the box. My mother was a big influence on me. Growing up I used to always see her dressing up no matter what the occasion was and that always stuck with me as a kid until now. The main reason why I’m so passionate about this fashion today.

It all started in college for me, I attended Framingham State University in Framingham, MA, I was an athlete who Majored In Fashion Design. I only majored in Fashion Design because it was the only major I thought would be easy to balance with my basketball schedule, I was completely wrong! Fashion Design was so much work and dedication but I fell in love with it! After deciding to give basketball a break after a torn ACL and knee surgery I had to figure out new goals and plans. Those goals and plans were building my own fashion company from ground up, staying original and true to myself. I have been working on my luxury line for about six years now!

Going into competition with the Louis Vuitton’s and Gucci’s of the world, not an easy task but I have so much confidence in my work I don’t mind how long the wait greatness takes time! But throughout these past six years, I came across another new passion, which was music. I’m also an artist, I sing and rap and my stage name is Pretty G G Pretty. Funny thing is my music through these past two years is what been pushing my fashion and image. My first two songs “Pretty Fly” & “Pretty Service Announcement” and visuals were both Christian Dior tributes with custom pieces made by me.

Never in a million years I would have seen myself doing music but I been drawing a lot of attention in my city Boston, MA where I am originally from. A very difficult task to make it big where I’m from. Boston, MA not a place where fashion nor music is really appreciated so you have to constantly be motivated or you’ll get discouraged in a heartbeat! Me personally I don’t let anything get in the way of my creativity. I’m a very motivated individual, from watching my mother struggle her whole life, along with my personal trials and tribulations only keeps my vision clear. I don’t see anyone or anything stopping me but God when it comes to this Creativity.

So what I’m trying to display to the world at the moment is a soundtrack for my fashion, where my music gives my fashion a platform. Everywhere I go I’m noticed for my fashion, I also have a styling company called Upscale Styling with a childhood friend of mine where we provide any type of Fashion services from styling, personal shopper, custom garments made to order, plus more! As you can see I live and breathe this fashion thing but my ultimate goal is to have my fashion company like the great Gianni Versace but bigger! I believe being in LA is the perfect move and place for me!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road! Like I mentioned before my mother struggling and having five other siblings made things difficult but we made things work! Other challenges were the money of course especially starting a luxury line, very costly so I been taking my time with it. Another challenge I would say is support from my hometown, it’s very difficult when you’re producing amazing content but the support not there, gets a little discouraging but that only pushes me to go even harder

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a man of many businesses! First, one being “Pretty Fleur” my fashion company, down the line when it’s all said and done I want to have my own fashion house with a tailoring team producing luxury products for women and men. I’m a tailor myself and I also sew so this always been a dream of mine since I started! My second business is “Upscale Styling” I started with my partner last month while in LA. So many people were coming up to us blown away with our style and that’s where it clicked to me! I’ve already been and still styling out in Boston, MA I’ve very particular on who I work with, it’s been only women so far.

My recent shoot styled by myself with my best friend Sabrina Saint Louis who past away May 17th this year another reason why I’m so motivated. Her passing cut very deep for me and it was a blessing to get to work with her! Our “Mr. & Mrs. Dior” shoot was featured in Vogue Italia shot by another good friend of mine Nancy Bulma Fields who’s an amazing photographer! This work right here is one of my most proud work! Coming right after that would be Publishing my first Children’s coloring book called “The ABCs of Luxury”! I think this is what separates me from others I’m Just constantly thinking outside the box but keeping it original my creative juice just stays full. I love to keep things calculated and meaningful so I’m able to capture my audience. I believe it’s a blessing being this creative so I think God every day for that!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Life is all about lessons and I thank God I’m here today! If I had to start life over again I would only change my choices of friends growing up and my saving money habits!
