Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Mueller, MD, FACS.
Dr. Mueller, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs procedures that address the entire body, from head to toe. My emphasis has always been on everything above the shoulders as this is the majority of my practice. I have been practicing for 22 years; in 1998, I started my own boutique practice in Beverly Hills, CA.
After several patients shared with me their concerns about their necks, and how they were not interested in a traditional neck lift surgery, I began searching for a minimally invasive solution to address saggy necks and less defined necks.
Could I find an innovative way to offer a neck rejuvenation without surgically opening the whole area under the neck?
As a plastic surgeon, I had noticed the shift in the market and I knew that minimally invasive solutions with less risks were the future. My search to find a new way to reshape the neck without invasive surgery began.
In 2006, I realized that if I had a light on a needle, I would be able to see the light through the skin using the suture matrix. This was groundbreaking in my research as the light guided technology I created was about to make my ultimate goal possible.
My team and I performed the first procedure in 2007. We successfully sculpted the neck of a patient without her having to go under the knife. The results were stunning: a beautifully sculpted, refined and defined neck that looked natural. This is how MyEllevate™ was born!
Has it been a smooth road?
The main obstacle my team and I faced was introducing this new approach to the specialty of plastic surgery. Shifting the paradigm of thinking from traditional invasive surgical neck lift to light guided, minimally invasive MyEllevate™ was not as easy as one would think.
Getting doctors to come on board and adopt this new procedure required lots of perseverance.
On the patient side, it was quick and easy. They saw the benefits instantly and MyEllevate™ became a popular procedure in my practice. If you think about it, getting immediate and long-lasting results without needing to be surgically open or taking time off for a long recovery is a no brainer!
Eventually, the doctors started seeing the benefits of this new procedure and MyEllevate™ found its way into several practices in the US.
Apart from that, we faced other challenges that naturally come with any start-up company. It took a lot of time, efforts, and the ability and flexibility to learn new skills.
