Today we’d like to introduce you to Goldie.
Hi Goldie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a self-taught artist of multiple mediums. Front graphic design to silkscreen printing. Carpentry. Even beat-making. I like creating with my hands. I saw these rugs on social media during the start of the pandemic, and I figured I could probably do it as well. So I ordered a tufting gun, and I guess the rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I did a lot of research before I got started myself, just to see if it’s really something I wanted to do. So I was pretty prepared going into it. Finding exactly how I wanted my process to be was a little trial and error though.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Each piece is handmade. Each color is meticulously matched. I make my rugs in a die-cut fashion, giving it a more customized and handmade feel.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
In my opinion, good luck just comes from consistency. You have to put in the work to come across it. I have had a little bad luck with finding my fabrics. Come to find out, there’s someone that’s been buying all the shipment when it goes to the stores, and I have to try to beat him to it. And with my consistency, the store now saves me what I need.
