Meet Gloria Plascencia of Gloria Plascencia Portraits

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Plascencia.

Gloria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My background had been in business, I was in real estate for seven years, managed a banking institution for five years and worked for Nielsen Television Ratings for ten years until I suffered a back injury that put me on disability for over a year.

Depressed and in pain, I decided to go back to college to take painting to distract me from the pain and little did I know that painting would take me into photography and gallery management and into the world of fine art and art curating.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like with everything, it takes time to build up a reputation in the arts so I got involved in everything art in the South Bay, I interned at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery where I was offered a job as an event photographer.

I also became and event photographer at many other galleries, organized art exhibitions in any space I could find, I was part of many art groups in the South Bay and I also contributed photographs for publishing to the Easy Reader News, a beach magazine as well as the Daily Breeze and Los Angeles Times among others.

I’m proud to say that I’m a published and award-winning photographer and I’m also the Art Commissioner for the City of Hawthorne.

Please tell us about Gloria Plascencia Portraits.
On April 19, 2018, I had a ribbon cutting ceremony for my Portrait Photography Studio in the City of Redondo Beach!

I specialize in any and all portraits, such as Glamour/Magazine Style, Mother and daughter, Groups, Families, Couture Children, HS Seniors, Corporate Headshots, Actor/Actress Headshots, Model Headshots, Branding, Men, Generations, Lifestyle, Fine Art and Destination. We’re a boutique style portrait studio where the photo session will be specially designed for the YOU during the complimentary consultation.

For a glamour shoot, it includes a makeover with a professional hair and make-up artist, many wardrobe changes, expert posing guidance, styling, and a follow up appointment to view the printed and matted photographs that will be delivered in a luxurious photo box as well as the option to order professionally framed enlargements or canvas prints.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing comes to mind, my journey into the arts has been very much enjoyed.
