Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Brigman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Glenn. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Triptides is a psychedelic rock band that began in Bloomington, Indiana. In 2014, the group moved to Los Angeles, CA. We’ve recorded all of our music ourselves, embarked on several US and European tours and released six LP’s, three EP’s and lots of 7″ singles. We love the music of the ’60s and ’70s, especially groups like Pink Floyd, The Byrds, and Badfinger.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been quite a journey! As an independent band, we’ve had to work very hard to get where we are today. That being said, we’ve had quite a bit of support from the people who believe in our music. We’ve released several records with a French label called Requiem Pour Un Twister who have helped us establish the group in Europe.
We’ve also been lucky enough to work with some really awesome people on the booking side of things (Space Agency Booking in the USA and The Lullabye Factory Booking in Europe) which has helped us bring our music to a wider audience.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We’re a group of musicians trying to make something beautiful and thought-provoking. We specialize in dreamy, fuzzy rock and roll music. We like to play Farfisa organs, Wurlitzer electric pianos, and 12 string guitars.
We’re proud of all our recordings, for going out and touring the world and for making music for the right reasons. For doing our best to make true art to share with people, not just a product to be bought and sold.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Los Angeles is the perfect place for Triptides right now. I don’t know what it would have been like to start the group here…
It was cool beginning in a small town like Bloomington because it was a very low-stress environment, we could afford to rent houses with our friends to practice in, and there were plenty of places to play.
I know of a lot of bands that began in LA that are very successful, so it’s just a matter of taste I suppose. Not sure how LA could improve – it’s a great town for music.
