Meet Glen Dandridge Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glen Dandridge Jr.

Glen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey first began in Europe, where I played professional basketball for nine years. I first picked up a camera in Belgium to capture countries that I was playing in. In my spare time, I’d always go out and explore and find interesting things to photograph. Until one day, someone asked me to take a portrait of them. After that, I would always want to shoot portraits.

After my basketball career came to an end, I continued to photograph. Then one day in San Francisco, I just so happened to be in a Lyft with an art director for Levis. Before this encounter, I had never thought about modeling. I mentioned to the art director that I am a photographer and I just signed with a local modeling agency and we exchanged contact info. Two weeks later, I received an email from the art director wanting me to come in for an audition for a Levis campaign. Ended up being booked for two huge campaign that’s still running now nationwide. After that, I decided to move to Los Angeles and follow my creative journey. As soon as I touched down, I signed with Role Models management and Omodels in LA and just signed with Daniel Hoff Agency commercially and have been working non stop in front of the camera. I’ve been in those two Levis campaigns, AG Jeans, Dockers, meundies, Halo neuroscience, the list goes on and on. A billboard just recently went up for AG Jeans newest campaign here in LA on the corner of Pico and La Cienaga. Mind you, all of this has happened in the last ten months.

In the midst of being busy in front of the camera, I continue to grow behind the camera. Creating content and campaigns for numerous companies all across the country. Currently, I’m working on a couple of projects. One being a coffee table look book comprised of an assortment of moments throughout my journey in life. Also, an independent project called “Denim & Close-ups” This project is about confidence in denim. Basically, whatever the subject defines confidence. I’ll plan to have an exhibit in the new year showcases the select images…

Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly, it has been rough. But with struggles comes lessons learned and wisdom gained. So I embrace every struggle as a challenge and an attempt to learn and be better than before. I truly enjoy the process of learning something new and being uncomfortable.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Being that I’m both in front of the camera and behind the camera, I feel that I have a slight advantage on others because I know what’s it’s like to be in front of the camera so the I get a new client that has never been in front of the camera I can relate and make it comfortable and relatable.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With photography, there will always be shifts and changes in technology. But to me, you can’t replace that human to human interaction that happens during a photoshoot. Being able to changes a person’s emotion by just telling them to breathe or telling a joke that just shows true feelings is what it’s all about.
