Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Mari’.
Hi Gina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey into skincare when I developed adult acne in my mid 20’s. I found a wonderful esthetician who was able to completely fix my skin within six weeks! I was so thrilled with both the emotional and physical impact she had on my skin I decided to pursue the industry myself. 20+ years later…I’m still at it! The newest skincare technologies and the way we can combine them has always peaked my scientific interest and I’m thrilled with the results we are able to achieve with all of our clients’ skin types.
The pandemic was certainly challenging to several businesses during the last few years. I’m thrilled that so many of us in the beauty industry really worked on strengthening our relationships and supporting one another.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business is rarely ever a smooth road! I believe we all have highs and lows and how we navigate them is the most important factor. From having a huge staff to having a small one, to being shut down for nearly a year in 2020-2021…my career has definitely ebbed and flowed. I believe truly having a passion for what you do is key. I absolutely love helping people see changes in their skin, educating in product knowledge and steering clients away from procedures or services that they don’t actually need.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We provide advanced and customized skincare services to clients focusing on everything from acne to anti-aging. I find that every skincare concern can be addressed and most importantly results can be maintained when a relationship of trust is built between myself and my clients. I’m also a big advocate of being available for even the smallest issue. If a client has one pimple, I’d rather they stop by for a quick “touch up” as opposed to waiting for their next appointment (or worse…picking it themselves!). During the closures and restrictions beginning in 2020, I began doing quite a few online consultations and we built our very first online store! I was also blessed to work with several wonderful product lines that really helped me to creatively continue taking a “service/in person” business and supplement that with a “service/online” business.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Faith! This year I am dedicating myself to strengthening my relationship with God. When I start my day reading a scripture I really see a difference in my attitude. I just started reading the Day by Day Chronological Bible by Holman and I’m really loving it. For work, I’m constantly referring to Fitzpatrick’s Color Atlas and Synopsis of Clinical Dermatology. This book is a must-have for everyone in skincare! A client of mine just recommended Amanda Malone’s blog. She covers several different aspects of life and I was attracted to her approach toward money so I’m about to check that one out.
