Today we’d like to introduce you to Giles Chapman.
Giles, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Xclusive Speed Sports Performance in the Bay Area; summer of 2016, with just one athlete, Ahki Muhammed from Univ of Nevada. After returning from South Florida, where I attended Palm Beach Atlantic Univ on a Basketball Scholarship, pursing my Master’s Degree, I decided I wanted to put sports down as an athlete and become a trainer. Our main focus early on was primarily athletes, and we only held field workouts either on grass or turf fields.
As the Brand grew and started getting national notoriety within the fitness industry, we realized that we’ve created something special! Over the next few years, we transitioned from field workouts to gym training, not only for athletes, but also establishing our women’s program, which has been a huge success.
As time went on, we grew our clientele tremendously to Southern California, and now have a pretty big following within the Los Angeles area. We’ve held countless training sessions all throughout LA. We even partnered with Jenni Porter (Jenergy Fitness) last summer, and hosted a Women’s Showcase Event, right in Beverley Hills, which sold out and was a great success!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout this continuous process, there has been many trial and error situations. We’ve been blessed and fortunate to have a great support system around the brand, that we’ve been able to bounce back efficiently through the good and bad. As the Founder of Xclusive Speed, it’s a lot of responsibility and pressure to maintain the standard I’ve set for the brand, but it’s a task I’m willing to tackle each and every day.
Please tell us about Xclusive Speed Sports Performance.
Xclusive Speed Sports Performance is unique and special in many ways. Becoming an elite athlete doesn’t happen overnight. We’ll push each athlete according to their skill set and help them become technically sound with each new movement we introduce. Through each session, we establish correct muscle memory which is critical for developing elite functional movements that can be translated to any playing field.
Our Women’s Program and events are world class, and highly competitive. Whether you’re in a one-on-one session or a group full of fitness savvy ladies, it’s always a warm friendly environment. We cater each session to the fitness level of our clients’ body type and make sure we push them to be the best version of themselves possible! Athlete or not, you’ll always have a home here!
As of recently, we’ve been blessed to be featured on a few Adidas Football campaigns. In early March I was given the opportunity to be the Lead Trainer/Director on set for an Adidas shoot in Long Beach, CA, featuring Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills), Adam Thielen (Minn. Vikings), Jalen Ramsey (LA Rams), Henry Ruggs III (Las Vegas Raiders), and Keenan Allen (LA Chargers).
We always put our athletes or clients first, no matter what, this is their brand, they’ve built this empire to what is it today. The gratitude we have for our community will never go unnoticed, and we’re truly blessed to have it reciprocated right back.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is definitely hard to choose from, I’ve had an excellent childhood. Both my parent has gone above and beyond for me and my little brother throughout our youth years. I can’t pick just one moment, but I can honestly say the best memories come when we are all together as a family. The tight bond we share with our parents is remarkable, and I am truly appreciative for that!
