From a young age, I was drawn to the world of entertainment. As a teenager, I was a jack-of-all-trades, juggling choir, radio DJing, newspaper writing, and even stage crew. I also had a knack for talent scouting, helping my siblings land acting gigs.
My passion for the industry only grew stronger in college. I immersed myself in acting school and I studied filmmaking, while continuing to connect with fellow performers. Whenever I landed a role, I’d use my network to help others secure background parts, building a reputation as a reliable talent connector.
The idea for Talent & Skills was born during those college years. I envisioned a platform that would empower both talent and industry professionals, streamlining the booking process and offering valuable insights.
After graduation, I assembled a dedicated team and turned my vision into reality. Today, Talent & Skills is a thriving global platform, connecting diverse talent with exciting opportunities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to success, as I’ve discovered, is rarely a straight line. Early on, I faced rejection from acting school and high school plays, experiences that could have easily deterred me. However, these setbacks ignited a determination within me.
In college, despite being praised by my teachers and ranked among the best, I encountered a different kind of challenge. Major agencies, while recognizing my talent, pigeonholed me into specific ethnic roles, dismissing my all-American appeal. This experience taught me the importance of staying true to myself and not conforming to industry expectations.
As I delved deeper into the world of acting, I navigated a landscape fraught with scams and dishonest individuals. This led me to create a platform designed to protect aspiring artists and guide them toward legitimate opportunities.
The journey of building a business in the entertainment industry proved equally arduous. Mastering complex laws and regulations, coupled with the need to develop a comprehensive understanding of various entertainment fields, required unwavering dedication and perseverance. My academic background in Broadcasting Law and extensive experience working for renowned companies like The WB Network, MTV, Barbizon, KTU and others provided me with the necessary foundation.Through countless internships, jobs, and educational pursuits, I honed my skills and gained invaluable insights. This multifaceted approach, encompassing acting, music, modeling, and fashion, not only enabled me to excel as an artist but also equipped me to effectively manage and elevate the careers of others.
The challenges I encountered have shaped me into a stronger, more resilient individual. They have fueled my passion for helping others navigate the complexities of the entertainment industry and achieve their dreams. My education and unwavering hard work have paid off, allowing me to overcome obstacles and emerge as a successful entrepreneur and advocate for aspiring artists.
