Meet Abe in Hawthorne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abe.

Abe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a kid, my mom always listened to a lot of hip-hop so I became interested in music early on. As I got older, my desire to create it turned into a passion and I started working on my writing. It wasn’t until 2017 that I really started to take music seriously.

After dealing with a bad breakup and struggling through alcoholism, I used music as a way out of that dark place by putting my feelings on paper and telling my story. For the last three years, I’ve dedicated myself to becoming a better writer and staying my better self. My first single, Numb, which will be released Aug. 14th explains my journey.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part it’s been a smooth road. I think the hardest thing for me has been finding my sound. One thing that I learned quickly is that I can’t force it to happen. I just have to be persistent and work hard, eventually it will all come together.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
My stage name is Abe. I’m a songwriter with a vocal style of my own. Raised in Inglewood, CA, I’m known for making melodic hip hop tracks. The progression that I’ve seen in my music during the last three years has really made me proud of myself. To know where I came from and to finally be releasing my first EP is exciting in itself. No matter the numbers that come back on it, I’ll always be proud as I know the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that went into it. As I move forward, I think what will continue to set me apart from other artists is my work ethic as I progress and come into my own.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is most definitely the best place to be as an artist. This city is full of talented and creative people. As someone who’s just starting out into the music industry, this is the exact place that they need to be in.
