Meet Gerald “Pac-Man” Dixon II in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald “Pac-Man” Dixon.

Gerald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a musician with a lot of problems, AKA; a Trebled Man. 😊. I am proficient in piano, drums, bass guitar, saxophone and trumpet. I was born and raised in Detroit, MI where I began indulging in music at the early age of 3. Since childhood, I’ve been infatuated with rap music, poetry, percussion and a plethora of other instruments. At the age of 8, I discovered my true love, the alto saxophone, with whom I’ve been in a passionate yet tumultuous relationship for the last 22 years.(Lots of Highs and Lows)

I traveled a lot with music in grade school including with the Cass Technical High School Marching Band and a national tour with the traveling musical show: Jam Babies. I graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities with specializations in Music, Theater, and Religion from Michigan State University in 2013. In my spare time, I love to talk and listen to others, play chess, basketball and videogames, watch movies, and of course play music. I believe my purpose on this earth is to be INSPIRING, MOTIVATING and ENCOURAGING by spreading positivity with music.

What do you call a cow that can play a musical instrument?

A moo-sician. 😁

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road but I am enjoying it. I have been enjoying the bumpiness and detours on this road cause I got to see myself and grow myself in this journey. I may have not seen particular areas inside myself had not those detours happened. Like having no money causing me to hustle harder. Not having skills in areas that cause me to rely on people and trusting and building teams. As well as times when I learn to lean on myself for my own abilities

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a musician. I play saxophone, piano, drums and bass. I’m known for being multi-talented. I am proud that I am adjustable, flexible and love what I do when it comes to music. My adaptability and sensitivity when it comes to understanding feelings on how I get into the music.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I plan on traveling in different locations around the world inspiring, motivating and encouraging people positively with and through music. Garnering funds to help my family and community back home.
