Today we’d like to introduce you to Genesis and Justin Fletcher.
Genesis and Justin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Fletcher Foods was born in the midst of trying to figure out what veganism was all about. Before starting Fletcher Foods, I (Genesis) enjoyed food- cooking it, eating it, talking about it, reading about it. I couldn’t get enough. When I became vegan in March of 2018, I discovered a whole new passion for cooking. Veganism opened up questions about my regular food choices and in that discovery, Justin and I began exploring vegan pop-ups. We were fortunate enough to have discovered Vegan By El Zamorano because that’s when it all took off. We had access to amazing vegan food by local businesses. In all that however, we felt short of one very important craving- dessert. We ventured out to try different vendors, who at the time were few, and were disappointed every time.
Our cut off point was buying one of everything from a sweets vendor and being disheartened with everything we picked up that day. We felt that void could be filled. With previous cooking experience, I tackled the very foods I missed. It took several months to create desserts that were so delicious, you would think they aren’t vegan. While our goal was never to begin sharing our food with others, I was pushed in that direction. I reached out to David from Vegan by El Zamorano, and that’s where it all started. Until this day, we truly enjoy serving our hometown, Santa Ana.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth is relative to the consideration of the goal. In growing as a business, we have certainly hit rocky terrain. From promotion and packing logistics to establishment in the appropriate market(s) for us, Fletcher Foods has been anything but easy. But in the grander scheme, as a vegan-based and consumer-focused operation, we have thrived in connecting with our clientele and relating to the stories and needs of our customers.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Fletcher Foods – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Fletcher Foods centers around crave-able and reasonable vegan dishes. We started as consumers wanting cruelty-free and delicious simplicity, and we still aim to deliver it. While at pop-ups, we specialize in a variety of baked goods such as cookies, rice crispy treats, and cake. What distinguishes us as a vendor is us as people. The same passion we have for our food is extended into our interactions with customers. With this in mind, we price our goods reasonably as opposed to competitively – another core belief of our business. We find our deepest pride in the customer satisfaction and recognition. When grandchild and grandparent alike can enjoy our products and our prices, we know we have succeeded.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are certainly hopeful for growth in the future – as a brand, but also as a part of the vegan community. In building partnerships with known and unknown brands, we hope to provide a platform for growth like the one that was provided to us. As creatives and foodies, we want to grow in our platform and use every opportunity we’re given to share our favorite food with vegans and non-vegan alike. More importantly, we hope to educate others about veganism and inspire them to jump in.
