Today we’d like to introduce you to Galit Strugano-Wigdor.
Hi Galit, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Girlactik was born on the idea of me becoming a beauty reporter to report on makeup. I was trying to make connections and thought if I learn makeup and work behind the scenes, I could pitch my idea to producers in hopes I’d get a red carpet beauty show. Within learning makeup, Girlactik was born in the idea of developing a base for glitter but introducing a very fine sparkle creating a pretty sparkle liner that looked so pretty on, stayed in place and was easy to remove hours later. Girlactik started with my savings of $1800.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In any business, nothing is a smooth road. You’ll have battles and failures and that’s what makes you grow. I’ve been screwed over several times trusting people I shouldn’t of. I’ve ordered packaging that didn’t work with a formula and had to throw it all away. There’s many things I went through. It was stressful but it’s a part of life and that’s how I look at it. By viewing as a part of life, I turn it into a lesson learned.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
With starting Girlactik, I’ve learned that I have a gift of developing the right colors and products for people. I don’t follow trends. I create products I know we all need that are functional, effortless, the right color and look beautiful on. One of my products I’m most proud of is a hard question. I have three and will list why. The first product Girlactik developed was the 2-step sparkle liner and that’s what paved the past for Girlactik. The second product my the Matte Lip Paint. This product came out in 2014 right when the lipquid lipstick trend was just starting. Girlactik launched four shades that were perfect in color and formula from day 1. There was only four other brands doing the liquid lipstick and Girlactik became known as one of the best from the beginning: Lastly, last year Girlactik launched the original Jello Gloss Balm and people are going crazy over it. It was first spotted in an IPSY subscription box and has become one of Girlactik’s best-selling SKUs.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I’m going to set goals but, I’m just going to continue doing what I love and that’s developing beauty must-haves we need. The Girlactik brand speaks for itself. Once you discover…. you’re forever a Girlactik fan!
