Today we’d like to introduce you to Galia and Boris Gukaylo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We have Knitwear Doctor and Buttonham Palace business for over 30 years. Back in 80th we had wholesale company for making hand knitted sweaters selling them to department stores and small boutiques stores.
Then this category died and my husband came up with idea for new Knitwear Doctor business where we do repair of holes on sweaters and reweave holes on fabric, shorten knits with original finishing by hand, dye clothes.
We also do custom knitting and make clothes for customers in any style and color. Now we provide these services for individual customers all over the world and high end stores such as Chanel, Hermes, Maxmara, Hugo Boss, St John and many more.
We also have button store which called Buttonham Palace with the largest selection of buttons.
It started as family business and our daughters grew up in it and learn a lot. Now they both have their own businesses. Mila is selling natural deodorant at Barepits.com and Rebecca provides unique services at Mommytobereflexology.com.
Has it been a smooth road?
Business is never smooth road but we are walking it and very proud of our achievements.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We provide very unique services which help our customers save their clothes by repairing and remodeling them.
It’s actually a lost art to reknit and reweave holes, shorten knits by unraveling them. We don’t compete with anyone in this.
I am very proud of what we do for over 30 years and have so many happy customers. Also the button store is amazing and it’s hard not to find button for old or new garment.
Makes me feel good that we started it from nothing and came popular in this field. Still lots of hard work but definitely worth it! Love our business!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The location is not that important for our business. We don’t have walk in traffic. Customers come to us because they need our services or they send us packages from all over the world: Singapore, England, Australia, etc.
They get referrals from many stores, tailors and cleaners to find us.
Pricing:
