Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Rivera.
Gabriela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Home Love Rentals unofficially started when we began planning our wedding festivities in February 2018! First festivity engagement party, of course! That is when my husband, Joseph, built our first backdrop! Who knew a 7’x6′ boxwood backdrop would be such a hit? After getting married in October 2018 we decided to finally rent our boxwood backdrop and a couple of other small items. But first we needed a name! 90% of our inventory is made by my husband at home with love. Aha! Home Love Rentals! November 2018 is when we officially launched HLR. December and January came around and it was kind of slow. Come February, we have been non-stop since and loving every minute of it!
Has it been a smooth road?
When starting out a business there is always going to be bumps in the road. Owning a small business comes with a lot of responsibilities and you have to wear many hats. You have to be your own photographer, accountant, web developer, your own assistant, marketing team, the list is never-ending! With that being said finding the time to do all of it can get difficult at times. I am lucky enough to have my husband, Joseph, assist me with some of those tasks. Not only is time an obstacle, but knowing how to do everything. For example, web developing is a foreign language to me. I knew nothing about creating a website. I’ve spent numerous of (frustrating) hours on Youtube on how to create a website. Slowly but surely it’s coming along!
Some days are longer than others, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I’m so blessed to be able to do this with my husband. There will always be learning experiences. You just have to learn from them and move forward!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Home Love Rentals story. Tell us more about the business.
Home Love Rentals is based in Whittier, Ca that specializes in backdrops, laser cut custom signs, peacock chairs, and event styling. We are a husband and wife invested in making your event memorable!
We are currently a team of three! My husband Joseph builds our backdrops, wood tables, cake stands, etc. Tim cuts our custom signs. I manage our social media accounts, marketing, banking, selecting inventory (like I mentioned before, many hats!)
What I am most proud of is how far we have come in 8 months! It’s such an amazing feeling knowing that all our hard work is paying off! Those sleepless nights, stressful days are all worth it!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I definitely see us in a warehouse with a bigger team and more inventory of course! I would love to add a kids line to our inventory eventually! I am very excited to see what the future holds for HLR!
