Meet Gabriel Alele of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Alele

Hi Gabriel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an Actor and television production coordinator based in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. I am a First Generation American born of Nigerian immigrants that emigrated to Los Angeles in the 80s. My Mother had a career as a News Broadcaster in Nigeria and London before moving to the Los Angeles which now looking back may have played a role in influencing me to pursue a camera-friendly profession. Growing up in Greater Los Angeles County, the influence of Hollywood played like a backdrop to my childhood as a few of my early childhood friends became child actors in the entertainment industry. It was at the young age of 12 after taking my first Drama class in Middle School that I was hit with the realization that I wanted to become a Professional Actor. The adrenaline rush I felt performing on stage in front of my peers in Middle school unlocked a hidden confidence within me that until that time period had been doormat. During my Senior year at Granada Hills Charter High school, I interviewed a working Actor on a popular daytime soap series as part of a class project who gave me life-changing advice of ‘never putting all your eggs in the Acting basket’ that continues to influence my actions today.

I graduated with a degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Sports Management at the University of California- Santa Barbara to broaden my job prospects after college. After working in Marketing and Corporate Sales for a few years I decided to pursue my Post-Grad degree in Project Management at California State University-Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. It seemed like a full-time professional career in Acting would become a distant memory. I started doing Background acting (Extra) work with Central Casting in Burbank to make some extra money. It was a failed project management internship that would finally propel me to pursue Acting full-time.

I landed my debut speaking role near the end of 2015 in the independent Danny Trejo produced film ‘The Good, The Bad, and the Dead.’ I have been casted in multiple student film projects at NYFA Los Angeles, USC, UCLA, CSUN, and LMU.
I have performed in Hollywood underground Blackbox theater plays that have helped rekindle the passion for Acting that I initially discovered as an adolescent. I have also worked on independent projects over the years, most notably a web series called ‘Uber Los-Angeles’ that became the 2022 winner of the LA Live Film festival’s ‘Best New Media’ series and in 2023 also became the winner of the ‘Indie Spirit award’ for the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema. In 2020 during the pandemic, I firmly stepped into the television production realm after being hired as a Studio Production Page and Set PA for CBS Television city studios in Hollywood. I have kept my Professional Acting training fresh by studying Meisner at the acclaimed Playhouse West in North Hollywood.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been quite a journey since taking the plunge from Corporate America to pursue my childhood dream of professional Acting fulltime. One of the main struggles I have had to endure as a working Actor has been the rollercoaster ride of financial stability. Becoming a successful working Actor also means supplementing your Acting training and portfolio through your personal life experiences similar to building a sturdy firewall brick by brick.
I have learned professionally that requires pursuing alternative means of work outside of Acting gigs and making career-conscious connections behind the scenes which I have become more adept in doing over the years. I am now extremely thankful for my professional background in Customer service and Sales which have helped mold me into a more well-rounded person. The pivotal advice that was given to me in my teenage years of not putting ‘all my eggs in one basket’ continues to be a guiding force in my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a person who loves Drama, Comedy sitcoms, Science fiction, and Detective mysteries. I have been featured in notable Detective shows and network channels in the past like Bones, CSI, and the ION Mystery channel. It’s not much of a surprise that I have mostly been casted in occupational roles such as Detective, Officer, Lawyer, Orderly, and medical assistant. I also tend to play the Guy next door, Best Friend, and corporate businessman.
I have always enjoyed problem-solving and piecing together the details of plotlines/storylines. I am an outgoing person who has grown to enjoy observing people’s personalities and physical temperaments in a laidback manner. I have the burning desire and determination to become a better person tomorrow than I was yesterday or in years past. I want to be known as a Multi-faceted Human Being with a diverse knowledgebase as opposed to being primarily known as an Actor.
