Meet Gabe Middleton, James Jack, and Aaron Wilkins of human-I-T in Commerce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabe Middleton, James Jack, and Aaron Wilkins.

In 2012 Gabe & James co-founded human-I-T, a nonprofit focused on digital equity and sustainable e-waste management. Their humble beginning in a cell phone repair shop has crystallized their vision into what human-I-T is today. human-I-T breathes new life into your unwanted electronics; converting e-waste into opportunity for others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“The journey over the past 5 years has been the hardest years of my life, I have been constantly challenged physically and mentally overcoming unforeseen obstacles and taking on the challenge to scale a company, where you can no longer use working harder and longer as a solution but you have to find a way to work smarter and motivate teams to accomplish larger goals. I will also say this has been the most rewarding five years of my life because our team has worked tirelessly knowing that we all are working as hard as we can towards a vision that is now becoming a reality where E-waste is not a problem but in fact a solution to empower communities across the country with technology.” -James

We’d love to hear more about your business.
“human-I-T’s mission is to connect low-income individuals and nonprofits to technology, internet, and digital training. By reusing instead of recycling electronics, our team transforms e-waste into opportunities to promote digital inclusion and digital access. From Programs to Operations, our team and their dedication is to provide excellent customer service to all of our customers (tech recipients, tech donors, internet subscribers, enterprise tech buyers) on e-commerce platforms.” -Aaron

What were you like growing up?
“As a child, I always admired my parents and acknowledged them as my true role models. My father always told me to never be afraid of a hard day’s work, and I attack each task with the tenacity my mother instilled in me. I’ve seen what their work ethic has brought our family, and I could not be prouder to share that same work ethic with my fellow employees. I took a deep interest in helping others when I was young because I followed after my father. He always stressed to me that I live my life magnanimously. human-I-T has many facets but at the core of everything we do is our generosity and willingness to help those in need. I always remember his emotional reaction when he attends one of our donation events and witnesses all the smiles and tears of joy that the donated technology brings to the recipients.” -Gabe
