Meet Franco Wright of Scent Bar and luckyscent.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franco Wright.

Thanks for sharing your story with usFrancoo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Scent Bar was created as an answer to offer a physical enviroment to our online store, luckyscent.com.

In 2006 we set out to create a boutique concept that was a comfortable and relaxing place to experience our incredible selection of independent niche perfumes in a no-pressure sales environment. We’ve spent years helping people of all levels of fragrance knowledge. From newbies to seasoned veterans, we’ve helped them all navigate the rich and colorful sea of niche and independent fragrance. Our goal has always been simple: “Make people happy”. You’ll never walk out of our shop without feeling certain of your choice.

Scent Bar is light and airy and has a truly social vibe — think of us as a place where like-minded and friendly people get together with the interest in all things scented.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our first boutique on Beverly Blvd was really small… 250 or so SF. In fact, we learned over time, it was too small, both interior wise and from the store frontage — you could pass by in a blink.

We later moved the store a few blocks east to 7405 Beverly (at Martel)… to a much bigger space (800 SF) and the difference was amazing at every level. Fast forward to 2017 and we opened our 2nd boutique (500 SF) in the new ROW complex in DTLA.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Scent Bar and luckyscent.com – what should we know?
We’re known primarily for specialty fragrances – often called, niche or artisan brands, that are not easy to find! As for our website, we offer over 1800 fragrances — quite a lot, so we’re known for pioneering the idea of sampling these independent brands (whereby most department stores offer samples, many of our brands we sell do not).

We’re also known for our knowledge which we translate into our descriptions online — many of which customers praise us for as being ‘spot on’.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of course, I have to give credit to my business partner, friend, and co-founder of Luckyscent.com and Scent Bar.

We’ve been working (literally) side by side now for over 18 years! Adam has been instrumental in many facets of the business, from the technical (e-commerce) to the visual design of Scent Bar.
