Meet Fiora Boes of Silverlake Flea in Silverlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fiora Boes.

Fiora, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Silverlake Flea was started in the parking lot of my art gallery Ghettogloss about twelve years ago. I started it to facilitate the Independent Crafting Movement. Once that was up and running, I added Vintage to bring a more classic fleamarket feel to the vibe. It grew out of my then gallery parking lot and has been at the Micheltorena Street Elementary School for over ten years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Small business is never a smooth road. There is always a learning curve. The struggles have been small and fast. Good thing I learn quick!

Please tell us about Silverlake Flea.
Where Indie and DIY collide with Vintage and Collectibles, you will find the flavor of Silverlake Flea. Located outdoors on the playground of the Micheltorena St. Elementary School, right in the heart of Silverlake, Silverlake Flea is a neighborhood market that features the best selection of local vendors in Los Angeles. There is a revolving Food Truck every week and a DJ that sets the tone for a fun-filled day of shopping and people-watching in the best area of Los Angeles.

Silverlake Flea has been popping up in Joshua Tree. Look for the next Silverlake Flea in Joshua Tree at the iconic Station right in the heart of Joshua Tree on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Look for the twenty-foot muffler man on the Highway 62 and you will find it happening from 10:00 am – 4:20pm on Labor Day Weekend!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing.
