Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Monique.
Faith, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I will start with how I began my acting career. I received a phone call from a talent agency while I was out of town. At first, I thought this was a scam call but it absolutely was not. After meeting with the agency, I signed with them; two days later, I was on the set of the 2017 Marvel film, “Spiderman: Homecoming” working closely with Mr. Michael Keaton, an experience I will always cherish! This was my first movie set, in fact, when I received my check in the mail, I made a copy of it and placed it in a frame. It still hangs on our wall at home! This is how my acting career began!
I started my business, “Piano by Faith” in 2010. I was working at a daycare, and I was the pianist for the annual Christmas program where the children would sing for their parents! A parent came up to me and asked if I teach piano lessons and I said no; I had never even thought about that! A few days later, I was still thinking about the parent’s question and right then and there, I decided to start my own business doing just that! The Director of the daycare allowed me to advertise throughout the school and immediately, I gained 16 students! Two weeks before lessons were supposed to begin, life-changing tornados hit Alabama! Lives were lost, homes destroyed, buildings ruined, it was devastating! Crazy enough, I was still able to start piano lessons and all 16 students were still excited and ready to go! The rest is history! I am in my 10th year of teaching kiddos private piano lessons and it has been a blast!!
Has it been a smooth road?
To me, life is hard and there are constant obstacles and challenges. Acting and owning a business is no different! Yes, it gets super hard at times, but during those moments, I become stronger! Especially as an Actress, there are so many emotions running through my body constantly! Rejection, rejection, rejection, rejection is all part of the process! It’s certainly a hard road, but extremely rewarding!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As an Actress, I currently have 4 feature films in post-production, one of which I am most excited about entitled, “Death Ranch”! This is a horror/thriller film and I play one of the leading roles! We have just been selected for one of the largest film festivals in the UK, Grimmfest, and this event will be the world premier of the film. We are all super excited for everyone to see this one! In addition, I am working on my own project, a web series entitled, “The Crazy Musician”! I am writing, directing, producing, and starring in this one! I have had a blast filming the show and I hope folks will enjoy watching! Episodes will begin airing in the Fall via my Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages!
As a Piano Teacher, I teach children the beautiful art of piano playing in the comfort of their homes. Due to COVID-19, piano lessons are given virtually via Skype! I love this new method because now I teach children all over the country including LA, California! I am known for my energy and excitement that I show towards each student. They work so hard and I make over them and make them feel like the champions they are! I also would like to applaud my students for how well they have adjusted to online piano lessons. I am normally in the room with them, so this has been a bit different but they are all excelling like crazy and I am so proud of them all!!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love LA! I love the tourist side of the city; the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame are my favorite! I love the hand and footprints of the actors from the 50’s and 60’s. This fascinates me the most! Some of the lady’s feet and hands were so tiny! I absolutely hate the traffic in LA!
