Meet Fabienne Maurer and Rock Chang of Productions Cubed in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabienne Maurer and Rock Chang

Fabienne and Rock, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We began collaborating in 2012 on a short film for the Cannes Film Festival. We worked so well together and had so much fun, that we followed the production with a series of spec commercials. The popularity of our spots lead to amazing opportunities to produce corporate videos, celebrity red carpet events, and other commercials. Ultimately, our passion and inspiration is in the narrative format. We continue to produce 2 to 3 films per year. Our talented cast and crew, and satisfied customers allow our company to constantly expand and evolve.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Nothing worth having is easy!” We’re very passionate about what we do, so each struggle is part of the journey.

That being said, trying to get a moving shot requiring 3 toddlers to stand still and a giant dog to run in and lick each of their hands is an impossible task… And of course, there’s always the unexpected last minute problem: a sick lead, or a thunderstorm halting our outdoor shoot at 2 am in the morning on our last shoot day, and having to rush all of our lights and electrical equipment into a garage under the rain.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We’re a production company and we specialize in taking our clients through every aspect of production. From the very beginning creative stages, to the pre-production and post-production, we produce films, commercials, and corporate videos. We are known for nailing all of our deadlines with ease and utmost quality. What sets us apart is that we are ambitious and passionate about what we do. We have the drive to better ourselves through every single production.

What were you like growing up?
Both Fabienne and Rock were high energy balls of creativity and artistry.

Rock’s Mom said that the only way she ever got him to sit still was to put pencil and paper in his hands so he could draw. Having imagination and telling stories was always a part of him. Rock grew up thinking he was going to be a comic book artist until he discovered filmmaking in High School.

Fabienne’s energy levels were kept in check keeping her busy with acting, practicing her violin, performing in the symphony, touring, dancing, and singing too. She produced her first film with her siblings at age 9, and directed her first musical in her backyard with the neighborhood children at age 10.
