Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Abernathy
Hi Evelyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have lived in the South Bay area of Los Angeles for several years. What I love best are the beaches, tea houses, museums, and live theatre. People know me as the “Purple loving, tea drinking, chocoholic lady.
I started my journey on April 5, 2000, as a birthday gift for myself. I wanted to get products for my family at half-price. I had neither desire nor skills to become an entrepreneur. But it quickly became a hobby and grew into a business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle along the way was to get pass my self-doubt and personal insecurities. Sometimes, we get in the way of being our best self. Negative self-talk and negative words from people throughout the years add up to so much inner turmoil when you’re trying to build something new and different.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a skincare educator. My business is Purple Essence By Evelyn. Because it’s my desire for every woman to look, feel, and be royal, the Jafra brand is what I represent.
I am most proud of being innovative in my business to meet the needs of my clientele. What sets me apart from others in the field is my research to educate my current and potential clients. Consultation is important in my business. Building a personal relationship with my clients is important to me. Never do I feel that I am selling. Instead, I’m available to service their needs.
Teaching how to age-well is more than products. I want to be sure that they are eating healthy, sleeping well, exercising, and that their mental and emotional health is at its finest. Teaching strategies and practices to aid others be their best possible version of themselves is my aim.
I provide education through personal appointments (online and in-person), online workshops, weekly blog posts, YouTube videos, and social media posts.
An exciting portion of my business is training, mentoring, and coaching others to be successful entrepreneurs by joining my journey and team as a Purple Peep.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My professional development is only possible because I align myself with the right people. The person who believed in me before I believed in myself is Jackie Geisinger. She is one of the Business Development Coaches for Jafra, and has been a wonderful mentor.
Becky Launder, founder of Modern Direct Seller, has been my coach for the past 12 months. I have learned and grown a lot since investing in her VIP Coaching program.
