Meet Eva Jerkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Jerkins.

Hi Eva, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began dancing at the age of four in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Fast forward to high school, I participated in a program that allowed me to dance for half the school day. Following that, I majored in dance as an undergrad at Ohio State University, participated in the Debbie Reynolds Scholarship Program in LA, and began to work as a signed dancer under the incredible guidance of Go 2 Talent Agency.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most things in life, I see the road as incredibly bumpy and sometimes beautifully smooth. Some of the bumpiest experiences have come from adjusting to the cost of living and time for travel in LA, understanding the different expectations that come with every job (every team tends to have specific preferences), advocating for one’s self, and maintaining momentum while experiencing personal loss.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a professional dancer from Columbus, Ohio. While I graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in contemporary concert dance, I tend to gravitate more toward commercial dance.

I am known for working hard and learning fast! For my first large-scale job, I had to learn an entire show in the span of two days. The set also was already deconstructed for travel, so I had to learn to block the day of the first show. I would have to say I am proud of the fact that regardless of fear, I tend to commit to just “doing it scared” to the best of my ability.

What are your plans for the future?
I believe the pandemic has taught us so much… for myself, it allowed me time to explore more of the other interests I have such as singing and acting. I also had time to focus more on the projects I would like to participate in moving forward, and look forward to announcing the steps I have been taking to merge these recently explored sides to myself.
