Meet Eva Franco of Eva Franco Inc in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Franco.

Eva, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After immigrating to the United States, Hungarian designer Eva Franco embraced fashion as the bridge to understanding her American peers. Having studied in New York and Paris, Franco moved to Los Angeles, where she began designing her own clothes and selling them at a local flea market. Today, Eva Franco is still based in LA, where each of her exquisite silhouettes is meticulous and is sold in over 800 stores worldwide. She proudly makes her clothing in Los Angeles.

Has it been a smooth road?
As fashion has gone through a huge changes due to the internet, globalization. Designer are now having to do so much more then be creative in their work, they have to be a leader for change and that takes loads of energy.

I am fortunate that I am filled with a bottomless well of passion for designing. I also think having arrive on the shores of American as an immigrant I can value and seize the opportunities around me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Being in business for 16 year is definitely something I can be proud of as I started my brand at the local flea market with $500. I made my share of mistakes and I did not give up in the worst of times. I lead my company through one of the toughest recessions and a devastating fire. My clothing strikes a chord for the woman who wants to feel feminine and unique.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I studied in New York, worked in Paris when I moved to LA I did not know it was such a hub for fashion designers. It offers a whole infrastructure for making things happen. My brand would not have been able to make it New York as I would need a lot more of a capital to start it all up. The city should have more programs to bring fashion designers to a stage that it currently does not support as compared to cities like Berlin, where they know what value of great talent in design brings.
