Meet Ester Na

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ester Na.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m originally from Vienna Austria and am a multi-instrumentalist performing on cello, piano and bass in styles ranging from RnB and jazz to classical and pop.

Born into a missionary/preacher family, I was surrounded by music from day 1. I was surrounded by musicians in church where I grew up and naturally got exposed to many different music styles such as classical (obviously Vienna), Gospel and Musical.

Soon, I found my passion for Gospel and R&B and started playing keys at the worship team in church.

My first instrument though is Cello. I started at the age of 8 and miraculously got accepted to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna at the age of 13.

Then I started my studies in ‘Jazz Piano” at the age of 19 at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. After graduating, I worked as Jazz Pianist at numerous cities in Europe until I decided to pursue my studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston in Music Production.

I double-majored in CWP (Contemporary Writing & Production ) and Performance (Piano). After graduating from Berklee, I relocated to Los Angeles.

Please tell us about your music.
I’m one half of the music production duo called “The Wildcardz”, where we caught the attention of 8x GRAMMY-award winning producer and industry icon, Harvey Mason Jr. We worked on movie soundtracks including Universal Pictures “Pitch Perfect 3”, “Bad Times at the El Royale” and “Sing II”. With my production duo, we were invited to come to Nashville to write for the GRAMMY Winning R&B Queen Mary J Blige 2018 Fall. I also co-produced for established industry names such as the K-Pop Band EXOs latest album (Don’t mess up my tempo), NCT 127, 3LAU, Nikki Flores and many more.

At the same time, I’m currently touring as the keyboardist for Willow and Jaden Smith at the “WILLOW&ERYS TOUR” throughout US and Canada.

I love to create good music and I love to inspire people with my music. It’s important for me to put a message into each element if it’s production or performance. I love to be versatile, working for Film&TV, Movies, Artist Projects, and it’s important for me to expand myself continuously. I want to grow and learn and absorb as much as I can and learn from other people and not be afraid to put myself as a student in every situation.

Also, I want to share with people that you can equally be excellent in multiple areas such as myself as a producer and a keyboardist. While it was difficult to raise my excellence level in both areas, I never doubted myself that I would be able to accomplish both things. You have to believe in yourself, no matter what other people tell you, and don’t give up.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Get an entertainment lawyer.

It’s important to learn the business side of the music industry. I’d recommend “All you need to know about the music business” by Donald S. Passman.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
