Meet Erin Kanaley- Famularo of Bloom Farms in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Kanaley- Famularo.

Erin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve recently had the opportunity to join Michael Ray, Founder and CEO of BLOOM FARMS, a California-based cannabis company that manufactures and distributes high-quality, great-tasting cannabis oil.

My entrepreneurial spirit motivated me to jump on board as Chief Marketing Officer. I’m very drawn to opportunities to change people’s minds, and joining a cannabis company before the plant was fully legalized presented me with a compelling challenge that is proving incredibly rewarding.

Prior to joining BLOOM FARMS, I spent more than 10 years in the digital technology and entertainment industries. I had the opportunity to join Facebook very early & lead their marketing efforts seeing us grow from 2 Million users to over 1 Billion. This included development of Facebook Live, Facebook Stories, the Diary of Facebook & many partnerships around the world with groups such as the White House, World Economic Forum, ABC, Dick Clark Productions, The International Olympic Committee & many more. After a 5 year tenure at Facebook, I joined Randi Zuckerberg in creating Zuckerberg Media, which is changing the face of innovation one new character, collaboration and company at a time. After a variety of successful endeavors such as a Bravo TV show & partnerships with Conde Nast & Cirque du Soleil, I ventured to join Larry Rudolph in managing his roster of amazing pop stars such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus & Avril Lavigne. I went on to dabble in a variety of technology platforms such as Flipagram and Victorious before joining BLOOM FARMS. In my free time, I enjoy planning mind-bending events that are built from a mix of live theater, scavenger hunts & guest participation.

I currently live in Sherman Oaks with my husband and 4 cats!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has been a pretty crazy ride and I’ve always welcomed challenges. Anything that I was faced with, on my own or alongside my colleagues, was looked at as a blessing. We always knew if we could overcome obstacles others couldn’t or may try to avoid, we would have an edge. With my first experiences in the business world at Facebook to my current role at BLOOM FARMS, the underlying theme would have to be perseverance in changing minds. I’m very drawn to opportunities to change people’s minds even though it is a huge challenge. Additionally, startup environments are rarely luxurious, and leaders must be prepared to take on a variety of responsibilities and work long hours during the early stages. I always recommend executives do every single job before hiring against it. That way, you gain empathy and comprehensive understanding of that it takes, day in and day out, to succeed in the role. Remember that the best executives work for the people around them, not the other way around.

Bloom Farms – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
BLOOM FARMS is a California-based cannabis company that manufactures and distributes high-quality, great-tasting cannabis oil. We’re on a mission to change the conversation around cannabis by promoting the positive and healthy lifestyle of responsible cannabis consumers. Our cannabis comes from California family farmers that practice sustainable and environmentally-friendly cultivation techniques and proudly grow the highest-quality cannabis crops for our customers. As a company, we are committed to responsible stewardship and corporate social responsibility that uplifts communities across our state.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I often celebrate the little wins & carry pride when my work impacts my team. While it was pretty epic to receive an Emmy Nomination for my work with ABC News during the 2010 Midterm Elections or having a Facebook Live show that I produced with Oprah air on OWN, I find myself more excited when my team is happy & we are moving in sync. Along with the variety of challenges I mentioned above, building a team that runs like a well-oiled machine and all love what they do, is a challenge. When I get to a place with a team that has worked hard come together & we can start to see how our collective efforts are paying off, I enjoy that the most. Celebrating with the people around you & rallying together can’t be beat. I’ve recently seen this happen at BLOOM FARMS with the entire organization, especially the marketing team!
